st. louis will win the n.l. central. best lineup in the n.l. (maybe tied with atlanta). they get a rested morris back next week. chicago will fold...don't worry. houston has overworked their bullpen to the point that they will start to give it up late.

chicago there worst pitcher lately of the 4 is WOOD. Zambrano is on fire i have clement in a fantasy league 2 weeks ago on a double start 17 inns pitched 1 earned run 5 hits 15 k's not a bad week. (yesterday ) 1 earned run 3 hits.

PLAIN AND SIMPLE THIS TEAM WONT LOSE more than 2 in a row the rest of the way(you can bank on it), BAKER allways end the year hot.

not more than 2 in a row? now thats a big statement, with that staff they should be able to stay out of long losing streaks...

I`d like to see then get one bat, I can`t believe Palmiero won`t go...He`s not anything but playing for his own stats...

AGREED..........CUBS WILL WIN THE DIVISION, THEY FINALLY HAVE WHAT WE HAVE NEEDED EVER SINCE MADDUX LEFT...PITCHING!!!!

AND A PRETTY GOOD BULL PEN TOO..........

ESTES IS THE WEAKEST STARTER, BUT BY NO MEANS A NO.5 STARTER......MOST TEAMS WHEN THEY GET TO THE NO.5 STARTER, EXPECT TO GIVE UP 5-6 RUNS NO MATTER WHAT......ESTES CAN THROW A FEW GOOD INNNINGS TOGETHER TOO WHEN ON..........

FUNNY WHAT U SAID, AMAZING IN A 4 GAME SERIES WITH THE DIVISION LEADER, AND PRIOR NOT PITCHING, THE CUBS TAKE 3/4....ONLY LOSS, WHEN WOOD STARTED.......DOESNT MAKE SENSE......

St Louis - They need Vina back and figure out a way to put both Vina and Hart in the lineup. Starting pitching and pitching in general is their main concern. Stephenson has looked sharp since he came back as a starter. Morris needs to come back sooner than later. Bullpen has looked weak. Tino, Vina are always clutch. Has the 2nd best hitter in the national league with alot of clutch, gritty players but their pitching is just way to weak right now to hold up.

Houston - They have an inconsistant offense this year with inconsistant starting pitching. The bullpen has been fantastic, however. Wagner and Dotel are top notch. The bats have not been hot yet, but just enough to stay atop of things. If the bats become even semi-hot then they are the team to beat. Biggio as a leadoff man is not ideal. Bagwell, Berkman, Kent, and Hidalgo all need to stay healthy. They have clutch role players. Their bats should heat up during the last 2 months so they should win.

Chicago Cubs - They probably have the best team on paper out of the three. They have young starting pitching and it may show down the stretch. Young pitchers tend to slow down at the end of the season. Not many clutch hitters. Alou comes and goes. Sosa likes to hit early in a game or when way behind or already way ahead. Pitching staff needs to keep up the good work otherwise they will flounder if their bullpen gets moderate or more work.

this post was from an honest die hard sox fan too. The Cubs plain and simple will win, so much they are 3 behind the wild card also, so if they continue to win they will see the post season no matter what. Sammy missed 25 games and is now back in form unfortunately also. Baker has learned also with this team and has recently learned how to manage this bullpen better too.

Cubs seem to have the best balance of the three, St Louis pitching is so down this year...Houston just hasn`t clicked and injuries have hurt them...Those four starters should be what carries the Cubbies in...Just get a bat before Sept 1 and this team will be real dangerous...

They should finish like this...
StLouis
Houston
Cubs

St.Louis' offense is just too good and their pithcing isn't bad. Houston has the experience but they won't be able to hold off St. Louis. And the Cubs have the good young pitching but their lineup is too weak. I see St. Louis or Atlanta winning the NL this year. Good Luck!

The Cubs will win for three reasons:

- They have the best starting pitching

- They have the easiest schedule (by far)

- They can go out and pick up one more player in a waiver deal. (Houston and St Louis already said they cannot take on more salary).

Who said Cub fans are not smart. Now if I can just get 2 bleachers for Sunday.

I think you guys know what I think. Consider that the Cubs have now allowed 4 or fewer runs in 18 of their last 20 games (both others were 6), of which all but 3 were against teams over .500. The Cubs have one of the best young set of arms of any time in the last 25 years. Of course YOUNG is the key word and it could do them in this year. But this team should be a force for the next few years. They got young pitching, Dusty Baker, and management that, for a change, appears committed to winning. Get used to it. The Cubs are good. I know, I know, it takes some time to let it sink in.

Blue, well that's not correct, but anyways. I think you meant to say world series not playoff series.

But yeah, so what. Everyone knows that. Anaheim never won before last year either. And Florida when they did. And Arizona. Things change. Of course this is one of the most storied losing franchise in history so it adds to the interest, but the past does not determine the future. Things do change. Why should the current players care what happened 10 years ago or 20 years ago , let alone 40,50,60 or whatever. Doesn't really matter from their standpoint.

d2 & journey...the ghosts of 1984 will haunt them forever. i can see gary mathews, ron cey and leon durham (if he puts down the crack-pipe) showing up at a home game in late september when the cubs can clinch the division...kerry wood breaks his arm.

if that 84 team didn't win (with a 2-0 lead in a best of 3 series), that cubbie curse is strong indeed. i heard from a local witchdoctor that the curse expires in 2006. they may renew it if the price is right.

Damn, Florida really did win the World Series, I thought I dreamp Edgar Renteria singling up the middle....Did that really happen ,LMAO!

Searge is a crackhead? He raised a pretty good son I know that, the guy just hasn`t put it together(Jr.) Who managed that team was it Jim Frey? I will have to check....I`d l;ove to see the Cubs win it, even though Sosa is on the team..Either them or San Fran.....Was it Frey?
