Spiro,

I’m writing to you on the posting forums as it seems our private correspondence has not received due follow up by your side.

Everyone is aware that your newly acquired Betjamaica crew left Royal Sports with more than their clothes in their suitcases.

Your crew has aggressively spammed Royal Sports customers at the end of August. In your marketing campaign you have utilized our trademark without permission. This is not new to you, as I have emailed you about this subject.

Further to that your new crew has began harassing our customers on individual basis. I have provided evidence to you about it, asking you to immediately stop this kind of unethical marketing techniques. Again no follow up by your side.

Since a few days we are receiving phone calls from our customers complaining about a new wave of harassing phone calls. This is how the phone calls start:

“ Hi, I’m Victor from Royal Sports. I and the whole crew have moved to Jamaica….”

This is no longer acceptable.

I know you personally and respect you. Everything has a limit. Your newly acquired crew has definitely crossed the borderline.

Have them stop. Now.

We will bump this thread each and every time we’ll receive a complaint from one of our customers until this unethical campaign will cease.

Roberto

I had an account at Royal and I got an email back in August ... in fact, here it is, though naturally I've edited my name out of it - I received it on August 22nd and have kept it. The only possible way they could have gotten my first name was to have used Royal's list. This is for factual reasons only, the problem is for these parties to resolve.

Dear XXXXXXX,

I wanted to drop you a short note to let you know that after seven good years at Royal Sports as head of operations, I have decided to move on to a new and exciting venture called BetJamaica. Victor and Adam who also formerly worked at Royal in Customer Service and Linesmaking have joined me in this new venture.

I left some very great friends and customers at Royal, and I'm sure Royal will continue to offer the range of services provided when I was a part of their organization, but I did want to let to know that I was no longer there and provide you with my current information in the event you want to contact me in the future.

So anyway, one of the reasons that we are all excited about BetJamaica is that in addition to a spectacular team, we have partnered with The Greek (Spiro) and Olympic Sports. I think it goes without saying that he is one of the legends of our industry.

I'd like to invite you to stop by and see us at BetJamaica .com and learn more about why we are so excited about this new opportunity. Our level of service is based on years of industry experience and we know you will enjoy your visit.

Hope to see you there,

Scotty Johnson

Taking a Company's database, without the conscent and or authorization of the company, is just plain theft, imo.

I said the same thing when Robby was accused of doing same with DSI, after they split.

Just my 2 cents worth

I would have to agree with Joey - it was impossible for them to get my name unless they had taken the customer list.

If everything is true....Someone has some SERIOUS explaining to do. If I babysit your kids for seven years, it doesn't make them mine. Same thing with customers. Why is this not BIG news? Maybe BetJamaica would care to respond?

Is it possible that the customer data base is what was brought to the table by the ex-employees of Royal. Regardless, under any circumstance, this is just plain theivery and an infringement upon the rights of Royal's customers. IMHO Royal, at the very least, is certainly due a response from Spiro and a cessation of these highly unethical practices.

I'm also interested in finding out what the mods and Shrink think about this. Comments?

I gotta feeling this will turn real ugly guys.

I would think someone responsible from BetJam would respond to these charges, I know I would.

Maybe this was some of what Ken was talking about the other day. I don't know the unwritten rules of off-shore marketing but have to say this looks pretty weak to me. Cold calling players from the old Royal data base? Telling them the crew moved over to BetJamaica with "Spiro the Legend"? Again I'm not sure what all these places do to each other for a customer so I'm no expert in this area.

If there is another side to this hopefully we will be hearing it soon. On the surface I can't say I'd be too happy about this if I was Royal.

All of I've heard of this matter is from what I'm reading here, but if it's all true then I agree with Joey - it's plain THEFT.

I'm not suggesting anyone be removed as an advertiser here, but advertisers have been removed for far less. However ask yourself guys, how much integrity do you have? Would you do the right thing and stand up to Spiro and/or BetJamaica? Especially if you played at these places. Or would you look the other way, to keep them on as advertisers? Even if they stop marketing the Royal list, the damage is done.

Dante: I meant, what's your personal opinion on former Royal employees taking the customer list with them and using it to contact Royal's customers to try to solicit their business without apparently permission nor compensation from Betjamaica, if indeed this is the case? Do you consider it ethical, part of the norm in this business, don't care, or what? I can give you my word about receiving that email on Aug. 22nd with my first name in it, which to me means they had the customer list, or at least a portion thereof - very easy to transfer to disk, even easier to email it as an attached document to themselves from work.

I would hazard a guess that Royal considers this an important issue to them - the question is, is this common-place, accepted practice, or does Royal have a beef here?
