Talk about a dream job for Pete. Not only do they love him in Philly for making sure they got at least one title in 80 years, but he would be salivating thinking about living there. AC is a little over an hour away and the racetracks will be all nice and spiffy around Philly once they finally get some slots in them

Bowa did a great job IMO. The GM "Cheap" Ed Wade gave him no help as he refused to open the pursestrings. While the Marlins were signing Urbina Wade went for Mike "Meltdown" Williams, he of the 6 ERA. And he paid big bucks for a .190 stiff 3rd baseman in David Bell while letting Rolen go. Kudos to Bowas and shame on the front office and the underachieving players.

tough year for Philly sports fan. Phillies get crushed by Marlins to lose a wild card spot. Eagles self-destruct after almost winnning the NFC last year. Can't wait to see what happens to the flers and sixers...

Cheap Ed Wade? He paid Burrell, Wolf, Millwood (arbitration) Abreu and Thome. And they wouldn't have been able to pay any of them if rolen accepted the 10 year 140 million dollar contract. You can't have EVERYONE (rolen) And the Marlins didn't SIGN Urbina, they traded away 2 good to great prospects for him at the deadline including a former 1st round draft pick Adrian Gonzalez. Texas got a steal. Yeah Mike Williams and David Bell were bad, but hindsight's 20/20. We gave up NOTHING for Williams - how is that not worth a chance on a guy who was a 2 year all star.

The team didn't melt down, they played two tough games on the road against a team with the best record in the majors since Mid May and lost both by 1 run.

Bowa will be back

Get your facts straight

Bowa has had too many player problems to expect a "lock" of returning. The players dont like him enough to support him in the off season. Especially the losers like Burrell. If the Phils get rid of him and his lousy attitude they will be a better team. Shame on him for his antics this year..big salary and horrible output.

I agree with others, the front office DID spend, just not on one player (Rolen). I would take Thome over Rolen any day..you may laugh..but Thome WANTS and LIKES to play in Philly. Rolen on the other hand hated Philly and was of no use staying.

The largest problem the Phils had was keeping leads..or their bullpen. Mesa has been a bust since season two of him being here. That guy needs to hang it up, he does not have what it takes to be a closer anymore.. Too bad that they gave him a long term contract..

I think there is a HIGH chance that those idiot owner(s)- since there are like 20 of them..that with the new stadium, high expectation and low achievement of this last year and the lack of player support..that Bowa doesnt stay to see the NEW Vet..

Blown Head Gasket, I live in Philly and it is fair to call it a meltdown when you lose two games to the Reds when they are basically fielding a minor league team in your own stadium when you are controlling your own destiny for the wild card. Not to mention the two games vs the Marlins.

I presonally don't mind Bowa but when you have players who are trying to win in spite of the manager it is not a good thing. Even if they didn't say it publically their silence spoke volumes. When those rumors came out the biggest suppost from players were "no comment" and "he is our manager now, we play for him" type of statements. Now if they truely believed in him they would have all been out in force defending him from the false rumors.

It is possible to win in spite of the manager , but it makes things a lot harder. Sort of like hating your companies owners but still doing you best at work to help the company, tough to do.
