Although the Hampton Roads (Tidewater) area of Virginia wasn't the first place to get nailed by Isabelle, the effects were probably just as powerful and devestating as anywhere else...

Out of 2 million customers that Va. Power serves, 1.8 million were left without electricity for days, including yours truly...

We did have sustained winds of up to 105 miles per hour and I really underestimated what would happen here...

Although I only lost a gate, a tree, and a few plants, many other people lost much more...

It is amazing how much I take for granted until something like this happens...

It's great to be back online and I will be buying a new generator soon...

I discovered just how important one is during these difficult times...

Shrink - welcome back; glad you can swim.
Have you heard about the denial of service attacks this weekend ? It's getting out of hand.

ladyoracle,

Thanks for the welcome back, but I am NOT a good swimmer, lol...

Yes, I have heard about many of the attacks and I am also familiar with each and every sports book who actually paid the 30k...

This is a HUGE problem that needs a solution...

I have been talking with many sports books off the forum to see how this can be resolved, and I will continue to do so...

Shrink,

Glad you're ok, some of you're mods were contemplating a takeover while you were away. JJ stopped the mutiny and reported them to the FBI.... you ought to send him a bonus.

Why, so you can post a rumor that Kenny is broke and you are the only one that can save him?

JJ, someone needs to lend you two nickels for you to have two nickels to rub together (or lend you a quarter to buy a clue).

Glad to see you are up and running. When Lilly hit us last year, the people who's house we had the hurricane party at lost power for 6 days. Be glad that didn't happen to you.

P.S. Know you will be able to make all those important phone calls.

Ken, I'm curious - did any of those tips I/we posted help you any?

p.s. my parents were without power for 4 days in (I think) January a few years back during the great ice storm that hit the Adirondacks - others were out for a lot longer - glad this happened during temperate weather

Thanks everyone who posted on this thread to wish me good luck...

I learned that a generator can be a lifesaver and instead of borrowing one, I will buy one soon...

President Bush is here in Virginia today to decide what type of FEDERAL help he will provide for us...

There are still over 400k people without power in the Hampton Roads area!

Jazz,

ALL of your tips were helpful...
