It figures that the two Feist stable services are in the red. Although Donahue is knowledgeable, once you join Feist, your picks go to *hit and you sell your soul. Listening to Cokin was painful. He wasn't prepared and it showed in his performance on air and with his losses being total blowouts. Any early odds out on next weeks matchup at the Stardust? I'm looking to bet some of the matchups.

100% DISAGREE about cokin. i heard the show and just because he came late diesn't mean he wasn't prepared. he overslept - that is all. he was ready to go - because thru a 3rd party i was told who he was going to take HOURS before the show. dave's pix might have been a let down - but his preparation and homework weren't.

Winky- Cokin doesn't seem as sharp as the other three so far. Would that assumption be correct?
What do you know about the next two handicappers/ What do you think the betting line will be on O'Neil and Sterling? Does O'Neil a part of the Marc Lawrence group?

ALthough this contest can be
entertaining it doesn't compare
to the Station Casino's contest
which was cancelled last year. How
many contests do you know of that you
can win with a losing record? At least
this years field is not like last years
which was a joke.

Lenbo- How was that contest set up? I never followed it. Who competed in it? Was it over the radio ? What type of grand prize did they offer? Why did the contest end?

Mango -
It was a 17 week contest where you picked
6 games per week (college or pro) with a
best bet counting as 2 pts. , the others
for 1. There were some well known names
such as Mike Lee, Bryan Leonard, Russ Culver
and Scott Spreitzer to name a few. I believe
the guy rnning the Casino decided on cancelling
it after 2001 , for what reason I don't know.
Maybe Winky knows the reason. It was part of
KDWN's Friday night show at the time.

Thanks Winky, for the rebuttal. I have listened to Cokin off and on for over 10 years and while it's difficult to like the arrogant little man, I've never seen a time when it would be fair to call him either unprepared or guilty of not doing his homework.

Stations canned their contest because they went through a management change overseeing the books and the new managers didn't see much value in it. I had to agreed in a way, the point of these contests is to get you in the door, to see who is on who and then bet them. With posting boards and word of mouth spreading who was on what teams, people aren't going to come in the doors and then back the selections they see.

A side note, the whole concept is badly flawed. Its one thing to have a guy come on once in awhile and make a few selections. But when you have guys that run services you have to remember what they face. They have paying customers and these customers are not going to stay customers if they can get the picks for free. Guys from the Feist stable are notorious for having a couple of sets of selections (900 plays, plays for TV, late service picks, inner circle, etc) once they get down to the games they are going to give out free, you would have to guess you are getting down to their 15th selection on the board. At that point quite simply its dart throwing, no good handicapper has that deep a pool of selections he really likes, even if he is talented at it. So for people to get the sense that they are getting any value or quality out of someone entered into a contest like Stations had was misleading and I told a few people about it. This is why the Hilton contest continues on, a lot of those guys up on the list are using pseudonyms to protect their businesses, and since its only NFL games they have further protection. Love them or hate them, putting up free picks often isn't quite what it seems.

Wildbill,

These touts never have anything intelligent to say, 99% of them never played a down in there life, they cant look at matchups in a way someone who played the game can, they are reduced to angle shooting, things like team A has been on the road 3 straight times, Team B rushed for 300 yds last game, Team C has covered 11 of the last 15 in this series.

These guys are low class scum losers only and will steal off their own mothers if they have the chance.

Everyone has good weeks and bad weeks no matter how sharp you are, it is 50-50 and just rolling the dice.
