I HAVE HEARD THAT MANY OF THE PLETHORA OF OFF-SHORE BOOKS HAVE PAID THE ASTRONOMICAL RANSOM DEMANDED BY THESE CYBER-CRIMINALS. THE ONLY TWO WHO HAVE STOOD UP FOR THEMSELVES SO FAR ARE HOLLYWOOD AND RIO. I COMMEND THESE TWO FINE BOOKS FOR STANDING UP AND BELIEVING IN PRINCIPLES OVER MONEY. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASY TO PAY THE RANSOM AND MOVE ON. HOWEVER, THE OWNERS OF THESE TWO FINE BOOKS FELT THAT HONOR AND DIGNITY WAS MORE IMPORTANT. I WILL STAND LOYAL TO THESE BOOKS THROUGH THICK AND THIN, AND IMPLORE OTHERS WHO BELIEVE IN INTEGRITY AND HONOR TO FOLLOW SUIT.

Great post.

Make no mistake hackers - you WILL be caught. Even if the FBI has to set you up while collecting. The only thing you fags will be hacking is a lung up from screaming when some big motherfuker in prision bends your faggy asses over.

btw - Who really wins? Hollywood. Be certain that if there is a common line across the board that my plays will go to Rio and Hollywood first.

Now, that's good business

I applaud these books for not paying the ransom. I hope these cyber attackers get caught and tortured for weeks and then killed

How much are these guys really stopping the books anyways if they get a lot of phone business to start and have extra clerks on during this situation? I can't think there are too many people that won't bet just because they have to call it in instead of do it online. Might cut down the action somewhat as a few plays might be impulsive types, where a guy sees a line and decides he has to bet. Otherwise I have to think that a book like Pinnacle or Canbet get hurt bad by something like this since their business is so heavily online, but many of the others still get the vast majority of volume they would any other football weekend. I would think actually this might hurt during a daily sport season more as I would guess a lot more action comes online from people that are busy during the day and maybe log on at work or right after they get home from work.

WildBill:

You're absolutely right; our business is 75%-80% over the phone. The business model of books like Pinnacle and BetWWTS include a higher percentage of web-based services.

At this moment we're doing everything we can to fight this scumbag; hopefully, our web site will be up and running again very soon.

Thank you all gentlemen for your patience and support during this down-time.

Hollywood-

Stand strong and keep up the good work. $30K buys a lot of investigation and anti-DOS software/hardware. It's a much better use for the money.

question: are the servers for most sportsbooks located outside the US? If they are, it seems as though the FBI has no jusistiction and therefore would be no help tracking down attacks.

that leaves each book and their host to fend them off on their own.

I agree WildBill, If you can't figure out that there's an option to cal in your bet at 1 800 220 0002, then you have no brains in your head and shouldn't be left to wonder the earth, like JJgold and Railbird

Dear Lander,

If you think that the FBI is going to help stop these extortionists, then you are an even bigger moron than you appear to be by using the word "fags" to refer to them. One fails to see the relevance of sexual orientation here.
The FBI, if they are aware of the situation, will happilly sit by and watch before lifting a finger to help. The FBI has been long eager to see the end to off shore wagering.
Will they be caught? It's doubtful. Will they be stopped? That much is probable with some tireless effort on the parts of those tech staffs responsible for keeping their web sites up and running, and protecting them from outside invasion (virus or other).
As far as paying or not paying is concerened? I think that it's relative. How much does each individual sportsbook have to lose by not paying. Some are quite dependent upon their internet traffic. Others can afford to be down for a while as they try to come up with a solution to defeat these criminals. Judge not, lest you have to walk in another's shoes for a mile.
Finally, I'd like to say that this forum is not the place for bigotry and hate..It's for discussing the business of gaming. If you need a place to express your sick ideas, then why don't you check out the KKK's web site?

The FBI could care less about the offshare community, now the DOJ, that's a different story. Now, since you you're so into "relevence", do not be surprised if these hackers have an American connection. First off, the best universities for technology are in the US. Second off, the extortion letters were all written in perfect (slang) English.

It takes one mistake by these hackers to get caught. If you forget to cover one hop along the way you're likely to get caught. Sure it's doubtful, but so is coming ahead in gambling - yet YOU'RE here, are you not?

If a shop is solely dependent upon internet business and pays the 30K they ARE NOT just paying 30K. They are paying 30K per year to this group of cowards, and 30K to every other group of DOS attackers that smells the opportunity. How many books go under as is? Do you think they could afford to drop another 300 dimes if 10 seperate attackers are successfull?
No, of course not.

You ONLY win by upgrading & investigating.

Yet you're only only post is about hackers & refers to me as a 'moron'. The only thing worse than idiot such as yourself, is a hypocrite - a liar, if you will.
