i know the "real" reason, people play and will continue to play at "obscure" or books that arent top-level aka sh*t books

one word.....greed

i am guilty of it to an extent also....

books that arent top-notch tend to have the following..

1. soft-lines
2. slow-moving lines
3. bonus and reduced juice offers that cut too far into profit
4. poor management ect..

this translates into easy money for those who want to take advantage of it........but there is one BIG problem.......running a shop like this will leave you busted eventually, so winning doesnt amount to didly if you cant get paid...

but the "greed" factor is hard to control, they see one thing only EASY money....
thus, they continue to take shots at them even though.....that little voice keeps telling them "i hope i can get paid"......

i said i am guilty of this too......

currently i use 3 local cream puffs......taking advantage of bad # they put up...they have a large enough square base to keep them out of trouble....but i have got a better chance of getting paid from them than a offshore shop that operates the same way...

IMO........alot of the sh*t books(for lack of a better term) have honest intentions when they open offshore, but when they operate poorly, and their bankroll vanishes......its only a matter of time before bad things happen......

let me just say this, if you play at a suspect book fine, if you get stiffed oh well.......sometimes thats the price you pay

One thing about the guys you are betting into, If you win you get paid! They don't have six pages of written rules that allow them to cancel the action after the fact!!

Dimes:

It's not easy money if you dono't get paid.

An extra point here or there, over time is important, but in a business (betting) where margins over the season are measured by very low percentages, getting stiffed will kill and theoretical advantage you might have.

AT THE END OF THE DAY, GETTING PAID IS THE HIGHEST PRIORITY and BEST PERK any Player will have.

It's all about getting the "off number". I have never bought into it, but others live by it.

As far as I'm concerned, that extra 1/2 or 1 point that you occasionally get will never compensate for your loses when your shit book goes belly up (but I'm sure that docdekay would disagree with this-he's the king of funky #'s and books that you have NEVER heard of).

a friend told me he had been stiffed by sundry books for over a million dollars. from these same books he had collected 600k in bonuses.

we did not discuss it further but i would assume he gained more than 400k in soft lines.

in one case he/they opened an account for 5k and built it up to 70k with a 1k limit. stupidly noone tried to make a withdrawal prior to that so when an attempt to withdraw was made they were stiffed.

Talking about posters who know of The Rx, MW, Covers, MJ's etc... I can agree, but the majority of players that are new to offshore and do not know better. It's not infrequent for a newbie to log on the net and find a books banner and sign-up unknowing of the cheats involved. They do not know of the scams we see often. I feel for those players. The regular posters here that fall into these traps, i feel less for.

JJ's correct.

General I can't feel sorry for any poster who just whores for bonus $ and then whines because he got stiffed.

IF THE BOOKS HAVE 2 TO 3 MORE WEEKS LIKE TODAY, YOU SEE HOW MANY OF YOUR ADVERTISERS CAN MAKE PAYOUTS.

Joey, the new players(newbies) I am referring to know nothing about bonus whoring. They just want action. I was there one day, way before I found the RX. I agree that the guys who strive to abuse bonuses deserve what they get when using unknown books.

I do not like bonuses at all.

General:

If a Newbie finds a site like Rx, MW etc and reads around, maybe asks for opinions, he shouldn't land with a shit book.

If he does, then he's plain dumb.

IF a veteran player bets into the shit sites, for whatever reasons, and it goes bad, I can't feel sorry for them.

If a newbie just gets a mailer or listens to a radio show touting a book and it doesn't work out, well odds are we would never hear about it here.

I agree Joey...But I'd guess that 10% of the players are aware of the forums. Way too many people bite at that first pop up that they see & then blindly send their money to.

Roughly five years ago when I started my internet betting career I grabbed whatever bonus I could grab and played at whatever sh*tbook you can imagine. In those years credit cards had no limitations, so books got plenty of square money. I took full advantage of it. And I needed it! I simply had no winning system other than grabbing the bonuses and betting on the soft-lines (simply following the Asian market). Thank God! That has changed now, so my personal believe is that those still playing at sh*tbooks simply have no other choice.

Having said all this I do enjoy a little drama sometimes, so I will play with an obscure book at the RX or MW.

I agree there is no sense playing at books you know nothing about. One must do due diligence when making any financial transactions but especially with sportsbook, considering past problems. I would always rather have a safe book, one in which I can sleep at night, then one that offers a big bonus!

Many of those who are brand new to this offshore hobby have no idea there is even a concern about being paid. Posters here do, but many that do not know of us will think its all safe and will be persuaded by the book. That site i found yesterday saturnsports had a note on bottom of page "all deposits/monies 100% secure". Newbies see that and believe it.
