I have been logging on to the home pages of different books since I plan to open a few more accounts and I have spotted what to me seems like a disturbing though interesting marketing trend.

Forget about Rock Island or Sportshustler, several of our "respected" outs and probably a lot more [you know who they are], are using what I'll call the "Coors Light" marketing approach and even exceeding it. How quick to capitalize on the infamous Britney kiss.

Using the psychological "aren't we cool, just look at our yachts, half naked photo shoot eighteen year olds, Hummers, parties on the beach and those triplets, twins" or whatever; they want you pulling the trigger with them while you sit in front of your computer with hat backwards downing your ninth Coors Light or MGB.

Hey guys, they are very simply saying to you, send us a few bucks and you'll be cool like us. You young college kids and old wheezing bastards going through your mid-life crises; hey, be part of our lifestyle and party with us and our young hookers while trying to rollover your bonus 5x or more without even being able to touch your winnings. We'll get your money but you'll get some vicarious thrills and you'll be part of us.

Guys, you are not part of any book's frenzied party scene nor are you part of a happy family overseen by a back alley BM posing as an advice spewing, benevolent looking, paternalistic chipmunk.

You are THE MARK. They are your ADVERSARY. You may and should have mutual trust but you still have an adversial relationship with them at best. You are NOT a part of their Friday or Saturday night bacchanalian revelry except in your wildest dreams. Which I may add, you will have after you've been at this long enough.

It pains me to see them flaunt what your money got them as a tool to get even more of your money. You are what gives them the lifestyle they are letting you catch a glimpse of and you ain't ever going to get closer to it than your computer monitor. Don't fall for advertising bullshit which aims below your belt.
