Ripping on Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb now is like being that last kid to take a shot during a fight after one of your friends has already put the other guy on the ground.

"There, take that."

That's piling on, too easy and not entirely fair. So as an explanation to this column on the most overrated players in the league, here's a preface: McNabb was the choice as the most overrated player before his Stink at the Linc on Sunday. McNabb was awful in the Eagles 31-10 loss to the Patriots, which dropped the Eagles to a surprising 0-2 heading into their bye week.

Donovan McNabb's passer rating is a dreadful 41.1 through two games. McNabb is still a good player, despite his pedestrian numbers from the first two games. He's just not a great one.

Although it's still early, we may be seeing that it was Philadelphia's strong defense of the past that carried the Eagles the last couple of seasons......

have you been reading gary sheffield's newsletter? was sammy sosa a ballplayer who got caught cheating (and happened to have dark skin), or was he framed and treated unfairly by the white media who exalt the brian urlachers and mark mgwires of the world simply because they are white?

Thing is though lander, I don't actually think Fielder is thought much of by hardly anyone that knows football, so I wouldn't say he's really "overrated". He's average, but no more than that. I think they should of pursued someone better this past offseason,(even though they landed Griese) or better do it next year, as Tampa did with Brad Johnson, or that top defense will just go to waste quickly.

Two years ago, a dummy named Mark Malone who used to play QB in the NFL called Kordell Stewart the qb of the new millenium and how these kind of qbs are going to take over the NFL.

Which one of these QBs do you think are better at running the ball than passing the ball??? Are any of them GREAT passers? How many of them are great when it comes to reading the defenses? Are qbs thses days supposed to take off and run if their first two options are covered?

1- Kordell Stewart
2- Donovan Mc Nabb
3- Michael Vick
4- Dante Culppeper

YAWN Do we have to do this dance again? Overrated Quarterbacks have a lifetime 58 percent completion percentage. Overrated QB's throw for over 3000 yards their first 2 years as a full time starter (and over 2000 in an injury plagued 3rd season). Overrated Quarterbacks throw almost twice as many touchdowns (71) as interceptions (38) in their careers. Overrated Quarterbacks in their first full season as a full-time starter engineer the greatest turnaround in franchise history (1999 5-11 to 2000 11-5). A 36-20 record as a starter. Back-2-back NFC Championship appearances. I can go on and on...

Look he's not perfect. No one in this league is. People have a right to their opinions but in my opinion the most overrated thing about D Mac is the talk of him being overrated. He's not the only one off to a slow start on this football team...and with all the injuries on the defensive side of the ball the Eagles have a LOT more to worry about than just Donovan. Out of all the QB's in the league for the last few years there is no one I'd rather have running this offense than Donovan. Period.

The problem is that the back ups are better in Philly. This was discussed last year at the RX as well. Feeley would do a better job in Philly. Vick is also overrated and this will be proved when he returns.

The biggest talk in Philly in the off-season last year was which team was going to sign AJ. Of course the number of offers that came in for him...0...didn't add up to the number of offers that were expected.

31 other teams in the NFL and not one wanted Feely. Not one? Don't get me wrong I like being a fan of the only pro football team where all 3 QB's are better than most other team's starters. If D goes down we have 2 capable replacements. Not many other teams can say that.
