Turkcell (Turkey's leading mobile player) and gaming systems operator Intralot (Telecom equipment manufacturer Intracom's affiliate) have started a subsidiary. With a market capitalization of 540 Million Euros, Intralot is an active player in Chile, with a six-year contract to provide Internet and telephone based pools, lottery and betting games.
The new company, Libero SA, will offer sports betting services via alternative networks like the Internet, mobile phones, digital TV and call centers.
Scheduled to start operations by December 2003 the first phase it will start offering services via an Internet web portal and mobile services - WAP over GPRS. The new subsidiary will leverage on Turkcell’s established mobile network.
In an International tender, last August 2002, Intralot and Turkcell’s subsidiary Inteltek won a tender to upgrade Turkey’s soccer betting system Sportoto.@@
