Is it just me, or has John Madden's color commentary become a series of him saying "boom"? I have been turning off the sound for quite some time now. Does anyone out there have another opinion?

GETTING tiresome. Man, try 5 years ago. Madden's been fooling millions of people into thinking that he's some sort of talent or personality for years now.

I've never liked Madden that much. I'm sure he knows his stuff, but he's so freakin annoying

I will just say that he is not as good as he used to be. I think Summerhall brought alot of good out of Madden.

Madden is fine.. It's just because he's an aging white man lacking energy to support his flamboyance. I mean Stuart Scott is basically the young black version. Scott is always saying " boom, booya, etc".

I think if you listen to any Drama Queens enough they get old.

It's very simple. They are exciting at first but they tire fast.

Simple people are boring at first but have long term value.

My favorite has to be Woody Paige. That guy is like the Seinfeld of sportswriters. His humor is so shoot from the hip and witty.

We will miss him when he is dead. We should try to learn from madden. He knows more about football than 99.8% of us here.

Everybody tries to be a comedian these days...be it television, radio, or forums.

I'll defend Madden, he's more tolerable to me than most and he still knows the game. TV is annoying by design, smarts is always refreshing.

If you listened to Dick Enberg last year (I hope he's retired this year, don't know) then you know when a guy can't perform anymore. The OhioST/MIA game was too painful in the overtime when he couldn't manage to get any call right. I'm not going to bash him, but it was sad at best.

Personally, I always liked Summerall until he slipped at the end. Madden is ok to me but over the top. Right now of the announcing teams my favorite is Buck/Aikman and Collinsworth. Before it used to be Stockton and Matt Millen until he left for Detroit. To each their own...

on a sportstalk radio show in chicago they have a guy call in on monday afternoons who does a madden impersonation. they ask him questions about the up coming game and he gives a maddenesque response. its hilarious. much funnier than the actual madden.

he has become a parody. same as chris berman.

I gave up on Madden years ago when "Coach's Clicker" started happening on his CBS broadcasts.
