Secondly, if I give my picks and go 4 for 5 thus far on WINNERS (not merely "show" bets), would I deserve your stupid remarks? Seems that too many guys here do not share anything except their assinine remarks yet when one person tries to give a little, they get fools like you posting. shut the hell up.

A good rule of thumb is to never bet place and show. If you are going to violate this rule, NEVER bet more to place and show than to win. If you like the horse to win, bet him only to win. Have confidence in your opinion and wager accordingly. If you think he can be beat by another horse, play Exactas or Trifectas.
In essence, you are advocating something similar to lagging all 5 foot birdie putts.
Like I told you in another thread.....find out how the wagering pieces move and attack. Betting 25/50/75 is what I would call full retreat.

That has SAVEd my arse MANY times. My belief is that it isn't how many times you hit your WIN bet, but how long you can keep MAKING MONEY. I drop my SHOW bets on small odds and maybe even my PLACE bet if the odds dip real low.

You can test this by tallying up all your bets over the last year and seeing how much your net profit would have been by betting as you do now ($25/$50/$75) vs. betting the same amount to win only ($150). My guess is that you would have done a lot better by betting only to win. Get out the calculator and compare the two results. You might be surprised.

I have handicapped football this week and I have decided I like the Saints -8 over the Texans. I go with my opinion and wager to win 100 on the Saints -8. But, just to be safe and show a profit if I'm a little wrong, I decide to wager 600 to win 150 on the moneyline to "save my arse" if they win by only a field goal. I just laid 710 to win that 40 and I am telling everybody that making money is making money.
I would hope (am sure) that everybody on this forum (if they didn't think this was a joke) would tell me that I was a moron for betting like this.

The method that I employed ensured me a profit tonight - and a healthy one by my standards. Now add in some of the exotics and it was a real enjoyable evening.
