Do the bad beats linger in your memory longer than the miracle wins?

They do to me.

If you gamble long enough, eventually you will be on an equal number of both.

Is it time to quit gambling when you can't seem to get over tough losses?

Yes! The curse of gambling, we forget the lucky one, mark that down to skill, and the losses are always bad luck, lol!

I tend to remember the lucky wins more than the bad beats. We should start a topic on "What was your luckiest break win ever?" instead of on bad beats and we should get some interesting stories for sure.

An important ingredient in success is to control all emotions and do not allow emotions to play a role. Wildbill made an awesome post on this yesterday.

Pancho: no. I remember the worst ones, but I remember a lot better the great ones. Last year on a college game, though I don't recall the teams now, I had a shitty spread middle that I was forced to cover on a late line move. It had to fall on something like a 22, really lame. I was bored that night so I checked Yahoo and saw that the favorite was leading by 16, but there was only a few seconds left on the clock and the dog was barking at around the fav's 10 yard line. So I went off to do other things and checked it late that night - and the favorite had won by 22. What happened was that the dog threw an interception that was returned 105 yards with no time left on the clock, and though I was never sure why, the extra point was never attempted. I will never have another one exceed that one for pure luck.

Ive got to believe that its much healthier (financially) to remember the bad beats more than the lucky breaks.

If every gambler remembered just the bad beats, they probably would never fall to the level of degenerate. Whereas forgetting your bad-beats and remembering the wins prolongs the belief that you can beat the book in the long haul.

Speaking of which, I cannot remember my last bad beat, but I sure as hell remember last week's Bucs squeek-by on the money at +725 :-D

I know its suppose to even out, but I just don`t feel I am even...I have had a brutal year with tough beats...I tend to harp on the tough ones, I know its not good but I cannot get over a tough beat,lol...Sometimes I think of games from 8-10 years ago still!
Sometimes I still get mad about the 1979 World Series..
