I have a pay fantasy league I run through Yahoo. Last year, all players went on waivers when the games started, and players could only be added after all the games were over (Tuesday at midnight) according to the coach's waiver priority.

This year, this is not happening...players can be picked up anytime, and a lot of my coaches are pissed. Doesn't seem fair that the person fastest to the computer should get all the best adds.

Anyone know why this is happening? Is it a Yahoo rule change? Is it something I can customize to get it back to normal?

Yahoo hasn't responded to email yet, so any advice is appreciated...thanks for your help.

Hey drunk guy,

I have a few friends who play yahoo and i will see if any of them can help. My advice would be to move over to sportsline next year. They certainly have some problems but their flexiblitly in matters such as these and amount of pure stats are unmatched.

Go into the leauge setting and change WAIVER to however long you want players to remain on waiver til they clear. It isn't difficult

In my league all undrafted players automatically became free agents, can be picked up whenever. Our commish couldn't find a way around it.

go to commish's tool and just change the number of days the players stay on waivers, like I said it is easy.

2times.. how do we make the league put players on waivers sunday morning and then leave them that way until tuesday like it did LAST YEAR?

there is a lot of bitching in my league too about quick people picking up players during gameday.

You can't set it so its Sunday to Tuesday, but the commish has the option to set it so that a player once waived has to remain on waivers for between 1-7 days. Which is basically doing the same thing. If a guys drops someone Sunday and the commish sets it so the waiver period is 2 days, he wouldn't become available to anyone til Tuesday.

Its in the Commissioner Tool section and then you go to Edit league settings.

Hope this is what you are after but you can't set it by days of the week, just number of days a player is on waivers.

No... you misunderstand, thats not what people in this thread are upset about. We understand that when someone drops a play you can give him 0-7 days on waivers. This works correctly.

The problem is that in previous years, yahoo would lock out all players by putting them on waivers while the games were going.

This way, if say Peyton Manning goes down with a broken leg on Sunday Afternoon, there isn't a mad rush for his backup as everyone gets until after monday night to claim his backup.
This way everyone has a chance, not just that computer geek who spends all of gameday at the monitor.

Just as an example this week donald driver went down pretty hard, and Javon Walker was picked up in less than 5 minutes in my league.

FSB-

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Haven't heard back from Yahoo yet, but seems like there is no way around it (at least not yet). I've locked transactions for my teams right now, and I will rpobably have them email me their wanted players and I'll hand enter them according to waiver priority. A big pain in the ass to be sure, but the only fair way IMO. Hopefully Yahoo upgrades their software within the next week, or its going to be a long season...

And Yahoo's official response:

2. The ability to place all unowned players on waivers each weekend is
not available in the Free Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football Game. This
option can only be selected in Custom Leagues in Yahoo! Sports Fantasy
FOotball PLUS.
