JJ emailed me that Rail had the Texans on the ML as his lock of the week. He sent it out at 4:25 EST today.

The guy at the table next to me at the sportsbook showed us his losing tickets. One was a $500 to win 50 ML bet on the Dolphins. Other one was a parlay and it was a beauty:

4-team $100 parlay, bet off of a card
Dolphins -14.5
Pats +.5
Cards Un 39.5
Browns Ov 46.5

Could you possibly miss any worse than that? At least on that parlay he didn't have to wonder too long about the result

Bill- I didn't know there were any sportsbooks left in town that would take a $100 4-teamer. Did they check his ID and log it in on those stupid clipboards that those moronic supervisors carry around to look important? Did they have to call the bean counters upstairs to get approval to accept the bet?

What was the takeback on Houston where he laid 10-1 on Miami for $500 to win $50? Let's see. If it was the Stardust, Houston was +400. At the Station properties it was probably +300. Hey, Art Manteris has to keep his fugly newscaster wife in nice clothes. I'm sure the takeback at the Leroy's satellite books was +155. It probably opened at +160 but someone bet $10 on Houston so Vic Salerno panicked and had "Bandit" Bob Smith move it down a nickel.

I am sorry for using the "R" word - and NOTHING EL

I do not know if Rail actually bet Houston but he said he had some people on the inside saying the were very confident going into this game.

I was in Las Vegas last week and had a BJ dealer tell me Houstom was going to win outright. I liked them plus the points, but I thought that dealer was on crack for thinking Houston would win.

JJ did Rail tell you that while you were watching the second half of the late games???

Soccer...I know you love to hate the local books, but this one's takeback was +675...not exactly much house edge there. What I don't get is how people in Vegas harp on the local books. Yeah they don't deal much, if anything, to winners, but they still give you a fun place to watch the games for free. Whether they deal you a good line or not, who really gives a s***? Just bet them offshore like everyone else and take what they offer gladly. They don't owe you or anyone else anything. And if your beef with them is something that happened years ago like Chuck Sims does, fine let it go and don't give them business. None of the books or their bosses will ever try to make the argument anymore that they beat offshore in any competitive way. They will gladly tell you that they are there to serve the casino. So why keep bitching?

I'm sure there were plenty of DOLPHIN ML bets put into thousands of parlays last weekend trying to up the payout.
