for the first time since 1919 the Red Sox recorded a double digit (11 - 0) shutout at Yankee Stadium.

when i went on vacation the yanks lead was 7.5 games, when i returned it was like 3.5...i guess i mean more to the team than i thought.

on a serious note, if the red sox sweep, the yanks will probably lose the east. the bullpen is a mess, the middle of the lineup has gone cold and the red sox were looking for an excuse to become revitalized.

yanks fans should be concerned. they do not look like a championship team and next year the situation will get worse with the retirement of rocket, everyone else in the pen a year older, and weaver still sucking ass (BUT he has good stuff).

The number one immediate concern is Jason Giambi, who is in a 1 for 35 slump, possible hand injury may be worse than the Yanks are letting on. Second problem is bullpen, Rivera has lost something off fastball and has fallen off the top tier of ML closers. Nelson is unreliable and not the answer for a set-up man. Funny thing about Weaver is he does have good stuff, I just think he is uncomfortable in New York. Jeter being out does'nt help either, and Soriano has been brutal at 2nd. Meanwhile they are still in first place and will most likely win tommorow. Afterall they are playing the Red Sox.
