The Cubs have Prior, Wood, Clement and Zambrano. These 4 guys are all pretty tough starters.

Why are the Cubs starting Estes and Cruz ?

6 starting pitchers. Please. I can see that maybe they want to save Prior, Wood, and Zambrano to go against St. Louis but if they dont come back today 2 1/2 games back of 2 teams is hard to overcome in 4 weeks.

I think Dusty wants to blow out as many arms as possible.

You can never throw too many innings when he's managing! Pitch counts are for fags!

They are just using it this week. They have a day/night makeup doubleheader with St Louis (5-game series starting Monday). They wanted to make sure Prior pitched against the Cards, Sunday was his turn. Thats why they called Cruz up to start. He did pitch well too.
