This is a new low....cold calling people begging for post ups. This has to be the definition of DESPERATION.

TTinco, telemarketing has been the cheapest, most efective way for any firm to reach the most amount of people for the least amount of money. I don't think its despearation just a new owner with more agressive tactics. Other than here where does Rio/SKybook advertise?

okay general, then I will just ask nicely too....why would Rio suddenly need to cold call right after an episode where they (supposely paid a player)

Cast, I don't think they advertise here (if they do, I sure as hell didn't see their banner).....and still haven't found it if it exists.

Joey, that was a first for me. I'm 99% sure that I've NEVER been cold called by any other book in my entire life. Before this, it was nothing but a bunch of touts.

I don't agree with cold calling customers, period.

But, I think it is a sign of the times that the offshore industry is over saturated and conventional advertising, be it internet banners, direct mailers, etc. just don't pay off anymore.

Books would rather spend their resources catering to the database of customers they have developed and telemarketing is the way many are going.

F Fidelity is a prime example of "boiler room" tactics. Frankly, I've seen them pound the phones, and it does generate business for them.

I don't think that agressive phone marketing denotes that a store is in dire financial straits.

RPM, there are 15 banners at the top of the page & on the main page.

If there are more advertisers than that, it's news to me.

I was under the impression that they were, but didn't see a banner & decided to post (it's been on MW about a week or more & was wondering how many people over here had been called).

Yeah, I knew I was fighting a losing battle when you replied (It does look bad-I can't deny that one...lol).

I may have found it....Are some of the books in the "Preferred-books that advertise here" just listed in there as their advertising?

Maybe it's a "cheaper option" that the full banner on every page(?).

Somewhere along the way, I apparently assumed that the advertiser list was those with banners at the top.

I guess all I do is sit & laugh at myself now.......I could pass a lie detector, but no one here would ever believe me (which I actually understand).

Just out of curiosity, who here has been cold called(NEVER played there or contacted them) by a book? That was also 100% truth.

I've been called by Skybook and first fidelity in the last month.

Players superbook used to call me all the time but not recently.

Very good post. I think it's a stretch that a company cold calling is desperate for cash. Mock FF and their tactics all you want but I hear they are successful though a pain in the ass to most of us. Hate to say it but this practice will probably increase, not decrease in the future.

I think you are correct. The days of throwing up banners on the internet and getting 5x's the cash in the door vs the cost of advertising are dead!

But the books that have paid their customers promptly over time, have a wealth of potential business locked up inside their d/bases and cold calling is a cheap way of contacting a real and known gambler!

I do agree that with the ever increasing saturation, the effectiveness of banners and other online advertising will probably decrease. I've also heard a few books grumble that the regular "forum crowd" is the worst market to go after (not sure if it was due the whiners, scammers or a few sharps who beat them up).

Hopefully, you are wrong.....but you're theory does make sense. Then more and more people WILL give phony phone #'s with a good reason.

The business that we are in dictates that we should have respect for customers past and present. That is why a book should ask a customer when signing up if they mind being contacted by different mediums of communication. I know that if I did not want my wife knowing i gambled and I got cold called every week by a book the last thing i would want to do is post up with them.If they give the all clear to call from time to time then fair enough otherwise, stay away and find another way.

Some idiot from Skybook named Raoul called me on my cell phone.... twice. I told him the first time not to call me again and then he calls back. How in the f*ck did he get my cell #?

What's Up!

Here's what I found out from the research I made on the promotions available for this football season:

I found these guys SKYBOOK, big, strong, legit, their lines are posted on the USA TODAY.COM, and suscribed to DON BEST, also are rated as one of Top five sportsbooks by the PRESCRIPTION.COM. Their Customer Service is number #1. They are part of the RIO INTERNATIONAL GROUP in business over 7 years.

By mistake I also found one of their "Agents" promotion called SHAWN, so if you open an account referring to that name we will get this:

.. 10% to 20% CASH BONUS (with some easy rollover restriction)
.. FREE HALF POINT EVERY DAY IN FOOTBALL. :) WOW!
.. They cover the fees in any deposit over $300,
.. One free payout once a month W.U or Check
.. 7 days a week payouts
.. 15% cash on Refferals
.. 24 hour Sevice

Let me tell you, I think this promotion Rules..

So, here's the link, to sign up: just click there to visit the site, or copy n paste the link in the address bar. Open an online account then give them a call and tell them you want a "shawn's" account so you can get all that deal.

http://www.skybook.com/index.php?Age=shawn

Let me know as soon as you open, cause we are going to make some good money this season,

Tom

The funny thing is they called me as well. I already have an account and it is fairly sizable. Not sure where they are getting a list but the guy had no clue I was a current customer.
