Prob many politics involved but if you watched many pacer games, he was not a good coach. He made bad decisions often with personnel & strategy.

If he coached Iverson, he would bench him, unlike Brown, who knew it was better for the team with allen on the court, even though he had differences.

Charlie, I believe Dennis Rodman is the one who made that statement after a Celtic-Det playoff game in the locker room, Isiah was close by and laughing said "yeah". It was not meant to be a serious answer. The reason Thomas was fired was the way the Pacers played. It was commented last year that Thomas was on thin ice even before Bird came on board.

Isiah is not easy to get along with and that is a fact. The only reason he was'nt named the general MGR of the Pistons after he retired is because of his big mouth. Bill Davidson loved Isiah and treated him like a son, and Zeke returned the love by betraying him. Truth is Zeke will be the type a guy who will not stay at one job for too long he tends to wear out the carpet wherever he goes

Larry Bird is a mans Man , he talks a mean game and backs it up on the court , as an NBA coach he took his team to the Finals , this man likes to win. He's a self proclaimed Hick from French Lick , a redneck at heart.

Dicky , by reading your posts , your obviously a fan of the former Bad Boy. Well , on the contrary , I am not. I agree Isaih was a great player , but Coaching isn't his forte. Afterall Brown and Bird made that Pacer team what it was , Isaih inherited a team fresh off the NBA finals , had all his stars back , but couldn't win playoffs series not 1 year but 3 in a row. You probably could have coached the Pacers to playoffs in any of those seasons , me for that matter. Fact is , Isaih is a choker as a coach , he can't motivate his players when it counts .........in the playoffs. Maybe as a player he could , but until he does it as a coach he will only be one dimensional.

but the race issue is crazy. m.l. carr is a very close friend and business partner. carr was going to also get involved with the failed carolina ownership.
alot of people in the nba knew and bird knew it was isaih who told dennis rodman to say those comments.
it is proven that isaiah has a history of jealousy with jordan, bird, and even a falling out w/ magic (though they are freinds now)
