Does any sportsbook want to sponsor the KING OF THE HILL contest?

Just got an email from Justin at BHB. He spoke to Scott and Scott said that if we don NOT get the 100 participants then the contest is off.
As for refunds, Scott said they will refund the 50 dollars to everyone that joined already. I asked about the rest of the 150 post up and Justin is getting back to me on that.

Okay, now that we know BHB will not run the contest because they are not going to get the 100 participants to join, is there any other sportsbook that wants to sponsor this contest without having to meet a participant quota?? I think this is a really great season long contest and this contest will bring great PR throughout the season to any book that decides to sponsor it. The book that decides to sponsor it will have its name in the title of every thread regarding this contest throughout the season.

I also feel this contest will be a much better draw if the book can afford to waive an entrance fee and postup for the contest. Or at least one. If there is no fee or postup for this contest then it is sure to draw a great number of participants. We originally started with 65 members in the Bragging Rights Contest in the baseball forum. The KING OF THE HILL is a football contest and is sure to draw alot more than that. (especially if there is a signifcant prize) If they have to give a lesser prize then so be it. I just can not let this contest not come to life.

So if there are any takers, please let us now as soon as you can.

Thank you.

Contest:

RULES:

1. Each participant will pick the full slate of games for the week. Lines will be provided by the sponsoring sportsbook (Just Sides/NO totals)

2. The 5 participants (or more depending on how many participants we have) with the worst record after the week will be eliminated until we dwindle down the participants as the weeks roll on.

NOTE -- Here is how it works: If you go 12-2 for Week 1 but then in week 2 you go 3-11, even though you might have the worst record for week 2 you will not be eliminated autmoatically. If after week 2 of the remaining players, 5 people have a worse record than 15-13 (your cumulative 2 week record), those 5 will be eliminated. In other words the elimintation process doesn't go by the worst record for the week. It goes by the worst cumulative record after the week.

ALSO -- If lets say 4 participants have the worst record and there are 2 or more participants tied for 5th to worst record after the week, the the participant with the worst record for THAT week is eliminated and the rest move on. If there is a tie...both are eliminated.

3. Your full slate of plays must be in the thread (ONE POST) by 12:30 PM EST on Sunday. If there are Saturday or Thursday games to open up a week, then you must have your FULL slate of plays in the Weekly post 1 hr before the First game of the week. No exceptions. Deadlines are FINAL.

4. When posting your plays in the weekly thread you must make sure to post your play and the line and all plays must be posted vertically. Once again, No exceptions.

5. If a participant misses a week he is automatically eliminated.

6. Any edited posts in the Contest thread will be graded an 0'fer for the day.

MC, no offense, but I just don't think it's going to happen. Most books that frequent here are already committed to something else. Maybe we could convince one to sponsor an RX Fantasy Football contest though, with 12~16 players, something much easier and they would have to contribute much less $$

Some heavyweight like the Greek, Caribs, or Grande, that doesn't have a premier contest, should swoop upon this wonderfully concepted contest, and accept the participants and their fees, as to receive the un-needed publicity, but to also show their clout in throwing around such Chip Reese-esque pocket change on a whim.

Bodog to the rescue?..I still like the BHB site and service(even if just an offshore follower out with generic offerings), and will remain a customer even if they do not honor the contest at half the original prize offerings, despite having half the desired enrollment.

Horseshoe,

Yea...I am hoping a powerhouse takes this.

Actually I would like to see Bluegrass sponsor a contest....maybe help itself become one of the elite.

BHB was offering:
1st: 5,000
2nd: 3,000
3rd: 2,000
4th: 1,000
5th: 500

500 dollar weekly prize too.

But that was only if they got 100 players to postup 200 dollars at their book. They didnt come close to that. (maybe 30).

So I am looking for a book that will sponsor this and maybe offer less of a prize but get rid of the participant quota and maybe the postup too. Maybe make it a free contest. Or if they cant do a free contest, at least get rid of the participant quota.

Let me know what your looking for in terms of prizes. Also let me know what your looking for in terms of time commitment.

We might be interested.

Sponge, please elaborate.

What book are you?

What prize can you offer?

What do you mean by "time commitment"?

Thanx

I think that Sponge means how much time it will take him per week, but I dont think that he understands that we will score the contest very easily.

I always thought that this ocntest wouldnt fill up and I believe it is partly because no one really wants to play at bhbookie. We needed a better sponser, but it is easy to be the Monday morning quarterback right now.

I WILL SAY ONE THING!I WILL SAY ONE THING!

I am very upset with bhbookie here. I mean they could at least have the contest with smaller amounts of prizes for the winners! I actually thought that htey were hte book that the Shrink was referring to last week and I still believe that today.

If they would wait, I am sure that we would get 50 players by next Saturday.

And because of this BAD publicity on their part, I would shocked to see more than about 5% of hte posters here playing there in the football season. Sort of pisses me off because i was looking forward to this contest.

But do this madcapper, MAKE SURE to have each contest have SOME SORT of entrance fee. This keeps people from posting under different names and such.

You may have made the INITIAL rules a bit hard to understand. As it stood then, everyone had to post up $200 and then take $50 out. Now I think that you have revised it someone just sending the $50 or taking the $50 out of hteir account without a postup,

Madcapper, we need to have another $200 sweet 16 tournament like we have done for baseball. I am going to try and get that started for the $200 entry fee! Those have been the best tournaments that the rx has ever offered
