I know we have read several threads about the trip but want to add my thoughts as well. I won't mention everyone I met (as I can't recall them all right now) but I do want to make a note on a few that I really enjoyed seeing/meeting on this trip. If I leave you out it is nothing personal, it is late and I think I still have jet lag.

The People

Shrink - I have come to like this guy. Really like him. I am proud to say I now consider him a friend rather than a boss. Each time we got some spare time from planning the party or doing some sort of function we would sneak down to the dice table. LOL. We hit them pretty good too when he was there. Really enjoyed it. Thanks Ken, can't wait for next year.

Nover - got to meet him finally and was all my pleasure. Always respected his work, nice to put a face with a name.

Dante - just like the forum the nicest guy you will ever meet. Won't find many as sincere as this guy. BIG part of the team here, honored to work with people like Dante.

Uncle - unfortunately I barely got to even shake his hand, maybe next time.

Angelle - a real sweetheart who did a great job on the party. Enjoyed the chances I had to chat with her during the trip. Smart girl.

Jenny/Rachel - very nice down to earth girls whom I was glad I got to meet. Hit of the party for most the guys.

Krackman - always enjoy getting together with this guy. Don't believe what you hear, rare to find anyone who has met him that doesn't like him. I know I do, if you don't like Krack you don't like good people.

Samaruai - as sharp in real life as he is on the forums. I could have spent the week-end listening to this guy talk. (Hot wife as well
icon_wink.gif
)

SeaUrchin - nothing I didn't already know, this man is a great guy to have as a buddy. I consider him a personal friend and it's an honor.

Panther - read above. He and Sea were the hit of the party. They know how to have fun. No boys need apply to run with these two dogs.....
icon_wink.gif

OutandUp - a board favorite of mine who carried that over to the real life. Like several others wish I had more time this trip to hang out with him though. Played room to room tag for a couple days....

FatFrank - straight shooting guy who I could have talked to for days. I believe he won at the poker tourney and picked up a nice door prize later that night. Reminds me of some kin I have up in LA (lower Alabama).

Thrillseeker - couldn't wait to meet him and was not disappointed. Next trip I want to manage my time better so can hang out with guys like this more.

Bases Wiz - shot craps with him for an hour or so. Has a good feel for the game and sharp cookie overall.

Winky - long time RX poster and good guy to boot. No surprise he placed 2nd in the RX poker tourney.

MJRed - cool guy who I got to chat with at the party for a decent amount of time. Learned a lot about him I didn't know and better for it. Can you say tennis?

Big Tex - celebrated his birthday with him and two others by doing a shot or two in honor of him. LOL. Very good guy with a nice family. Honored to meet all of them.

Shack - Raiders good thing you didn't go, this guy looked like he could take care of himself, LOL.

TeddyKGB - just like above another guy you don't want pissed at you. Didn't get much time with him or Shack but both solid guys from all I heard.

BallsofBlue - got to hang around him a little bit and found out he is a lot of fun. Knows more than he lets on about the business.

Chaz - great to put a face with a name. Was nice to see him pick up a little $1000 door prize. CASH.

Bucky - sharp guy as we all know. Can't help but learn from guys like this if you are interested. Thanks.

VolTitan - fun guy who like some others would have been nice to see a little more of. Saw enough to hear he knows his shit.

Tekari - my choice to win the poker tourney before it started and he did just that. Got lot of talent this guy. Hope he is back to defend next year.

BetMonkey - only spoke with him briefly at the poker tournament but one of those people you just like before you even talk to them, LOL.

Lou Diamond - I knew I'd enjoy this guy. LOL. Talks like he posts, straight from the hip. Interesting guy to say the least.

Voodoo - spoke to him on the phone and many e-mails before but first time in person. Friends of mine said I'd like him and I did. Will look up him up next year too if I can.

EWinner - wasn't going to put books here but enjoyed this guy a lot. I believe he has a good thing going and I will be playing with him and his book soon. Nice meeting you Mike and thanks for the conversation!

BoDog - my instincts are good and this is one of the most underrated books around. They know what they are after and they go after it. They aren't for everyone and don't try to be. Every dealing with them has been handled very professionally on their end, meeting them in person was just more of the same.

Rio - another good bunch. Have to mention them as they were a lot of fun. Didn't realize how many people I met, I have to end this for now.....

Final Notes

Would love to post all I know about this trip but too much to write for now. As I already knew this site is packed to the gills with good people. All of us got along great and it was nice to meet some people in person who had positive comments about what we have done and realistic suggestions for getting even better down the road. The site brings together people across different economoic, social, racial, and religious lines with one thing in common, we are affiliated with sportsbetting in some regard. I enjoyed this trip thoroughly and after a rest we will start considering ideas for next year. If you have any suggestions let us know. It's one thing over the internet or over the phone but nothing replaces shaking someone's hand and being able to look them in the eye. We have a GREAT base of people here who make this site what it is. It isn't Ken or the moderators, it's the posters who make the RX the place that it is. I'm happy to be a part of it. See you all next year.

What I really want to know and always wanted to know is.. Is everyone you meet in person EXACTLY how they are in the forums? IOW, if a poster is a man of few words when he posts, is he shy in person. Or if a person is very funny in his posts and is always making jokes, is he like this when you met him in person. If a poster is always serious, was he serious in person when you spoke to him? I've always wondered this.. For example, I always see Dante as a nice guy who is very shy and blushes a lot when he talks.. Was Dante also shy in real person, just like his posting..

I'm just curious to know if all the people you met were exactly like their posting persona, or were some posters night and day when it comes to their posting and their character in real life when you meet them..

Valdosta - hope you can make the one next year. I guarantee you a good time. Give it a try if you can. As for your question not many people did bring their wife actually, very few. Not sure why that was. In my case someone had to stay behind and take care of things here, she would have loved to come.

Sick - I would say in more cases than not you are caught off guard by posters. Dante would be more an exception than the rule. For some reason you kind of build up thoughts about certain posters and more times than not you are way off base, LOL. At least in my case I am usually off base. Dante found Shrink and I playing dice the first day and was so polite right from the go it was almost comical. Believe me there is nothing wrong with it, in fact I admire how respectful of others Dante is. Everyone I know speaks highly of him and that is one of the best things a man can say for himself.

Another thing that happens every time is the prediction of big trouble between certain posters get shot down. No matter how big of enemies I have yet to even see words exchanged, let alone any sort of fight. I have been to 3 different ones too. I think people realize how silly we get on the forums sometimes when we meet up face to face. Posters get along like long lost brothers when meeting face to face. It may wear off down the road when they get back to the forums but always peaceful in person.

People in general are more respectfull in person, not sure why but they are. People tend to be more carefull what they say in person (more delicate with words). Instead of me telling someone they are an idiot for using a tout (like on this board), I would be more delicate. LOL

I'll be there next year. I couldn't go due to not having the proper amount of notice for time off at my work (they are assholes).

Thanks for the insight Patrick, nice to know whom I am posting with! If I did not spend my money on surf trips I would go to this event, sounds like a hoot! Nice to read that e-body had a good time, nothing worse then taking a vacation and not having fun!

Maybe , next year I'll be in San Diego during the outing and I'll shoot ovet to meet some of these good people.

icon_wink.gif
Maybe that clears it up
icon_biggrin.gif

***sorry - but i was STUNNED i finished 2nd. that was the VERY FIRST time i had played that kind of poker. simply put - i suck at it. my only goal was NOT to finish dead last. once that was accomplished i could have walked away happy. our family is so bd at poker that when my father played penny poker with the guys in the neighborhood he would always lose $4 to $5 - a staggering amount. i consider it a case of beginner's dumb luck and if i had been called on a few bluffs i would have been eliminated a lot earlier.

Dante, in that case, I want to be more like you. Maybe I should hang around you. I wish I had your guts. Wow, sitting with the ladies!! I am impressed. I didn't really mean that you were so shy that you were a stiff around people and couldn't talk, but I just thought you were a quiet guy who is very soft spoken and just listens well and doesn't say much. That's how nice guys are..

Good write-up Patrick. I like all people. My loss I didn't attend. I think I could fit right in with you guys.

Treating others with respect is a simple thing in life. Some are just slow learners and some never do learn.
