The Dallas Mavericks finally made a major off-season move, acquiring Antawn Jamison in a nine-player trade with the Golden State Warriors.
The Mavericks also got Danny Fortson, Jiri Welsch and Chris Mills from the Warriors for Nick Van Exel, Avery Johnson, Evan Eschmeyer, Popeye Jones and Antoine Rigadeau.
The six-foot-nine Jamison has averaged 20.2 points a game in his five NBA seasons, and has been the Warriors' top scorer the past four seasons.
Van Exel was the Mavericks' leading scorer off the bench last season. During the playoffs, when Dallas advanced to the Western Conference finals before losing to San Antonio, Van Exel averaged 19.5 points.
After getting to the Western Conference finals last season, the Mavericks weren't able to land any big-name free agents. San Antonio, Sacramento and the Los Angeles Lakers, the other top teams in the conference, had all already moves to upgrade their rosters.

Just amazing..Good for Jamison, but Nick cant stick anywhere..The kid was the brightest spot in the Mav run in the west..Dont get it..Like Rodman was a designated rebounder, this guy is a designated scorer..Fortson is a player..Big boy who shows everynight..I hope Musselman knows what he is doing..That franchise needs a scorer, but he needs a cast to help..Dunleavy?..What happened there?Other than Van Exel who will score?..Richardson and Murphy are players but after that?..We shall see..Nick will get 50 a night..He will get the touches this year he always dreamed of..
