The chances are that you spend more time deleting and blocking spam than you do reading email. Casinos, porn, magical sex-pills, money schemes the list goes on. More than 2 trillion junk e-mails or spam are expected to hit inboxes in 2003 — that’s 100 times more than the amount of mail delivered by the U.S. POST Service last year!

According to report released by mail-filtering firm Clearswift:

– Pornographic spam is on the decline.

– Online gaming, and healthcare spam is on the increase.

Statistics filtered from Clearswift's 16 million users reveal that Pornography constituted just 15.2 per cent of all spam, while online gaming, casinos, betting etc equates to 7.2 per cent of worldwide spam.

As users (or spam victims) evolve to filter out Spam, the spammers stay one step ahead pushing out email variants and grazing on newer pastures pushing casinosand products like Viagra, diet pills and 'sexual enhancement' pills.

InformaMedia Group, an online gambling research firm predicts that online gaming revenue will reach $14.5 billion by 2006. So don’t expect the Casino spam to decrease anytime soon.

I heard that 54% of all spam contains the word "penis" or some variant thereof, but I'm not sure if my source is reliable.
