dutch is what some like to call..shady i found it strange that espn would give him so much airtime. i have no idea whether he "stole" money but i read about this pokerspot situation before i funded my first online poker acct.

Yes most likely it is. As I mentioned in my previous post, I read about the Pokerspot situation a while ago and if I recall correctly, Russ was selling his software.

From my recollection of a post I read about the situation, Pokerspot continued to take in deposits while knowing that it was likely they would not be able to pay those players back if there was a run on the bank or if the business failed. Maybe it was a bad buiness play but either way it was shady. Run the search suggested by Beetman and you will see a ton of stuff about this guy and Pokerspot.

With so many reputable places to play, it would be a shame for anyone to make a deposit with this guy before he makes the Pokerspot players whole.

Scumbag fled with players deposits and had the audacity to show up at the WSOP.

Guy is a jerkoff of the highest magnitude, I know more poeple owed by him than any other online stiff.

ESPN should be ashamed to give him that much airtime, and comically his latest venture, rakefree.com, (the hat he wore on TV) is dead!!!!!!

Russ blames his credit card processors stiffing him, but even if that's the case, he kept insisting that checks had been sent that hadn't been sent, and says now that his lies were just a case of "desperate men doing desperate deeds."

In this post, someone reveals that he offered enough money to buy out Pokerspot and pay off all the debts to the players, pay $200k to Russ and offer him 10% in the new company. Russ would also have to sign a non-compete clause. Russ laughed at him, saying "You don't expect me to get out of the industry," and instead said he had another offer for $1 million so it would take a lot more than that, at which point the deal fell through.

It seems like credit card processors aside, the guy's an arrogant little twit who has no sense of ethics whatsoever, and it has me steaming that ESPN is calling the guy an "internet millionare," especially since he took a pretty decent chunk of my bankroll in making his "millions."
