It`d be bad enough to be 17 games out of first place in mid August, but they trail Tampa Bay by 17 for worst record honors , and may not win 40 games.....

On pace to finish 40-122

Ah, yes, J-Man, 17 games out. But in 2005 they get the All-Star game, and unlike what Detroit fans will grow very used to seeing, THIS TIME IT COUNTS!!

I remember in '84 the slogan was Bless You Boys. This year it's Piss You Pussies.

Or Rozy, Senor Smoke, Gibby, Tramm, Lance, Chester, Jack the Cat, Milt, Petry, Hondo Herndon, Spark.

35-5 start, best in Major League history will soon become 37-125, worst in history.

Well I guess Gibby and Tramm haven't gone far enough.

Morris was the smart one. He's only the TV announcer.

I use to love when the Orioles would battle the Tigers, they were some tough games...

My Tigers lineup (off the top of my head) from that glory day era 1979-1984

Chet Lemon Cf
Lou Whitaker 2nd
Alan Trammell SS
Kirk Gibson Rf
Lance Parrish C
Larry Herndon Lf
Darrell Evans Dh
Enos Cabell 1b
Tom Brookens 3b ( they never had the foundation at 3rd)
Jack Morris , Petry, Rozema , Wilcox, Lopez and Hernandez

Bench , Barbaro Garbey, Kemp, Thompson,Staub and Wockenfuss

Jman - actually the Tigers from 79 thru 82 (not counting 81 the strike year) were just average finishing with a record of 242 wins and 233 losses. It was 83 and 84 that they were outstanding going 196 and 128, and of course winning the whole thing in 84.
One guy you left off was Juan Berenguer who won 20 games (total) in the glory years of 83 and 84.

Well the division was very deep throughout that time period...

You had Baltimore, Toronto,Boston, N.Y. Milwaukee, and Detroit all playing tough ball...

80 they won 88
81 they were 60-49
83-84 their best years
87 probably should have been theirs too...

They were tough.

Everyone in that organization that is responsible for putting that team on the field should be fired, they obviously don't know enough about baseball. Their scouts must stink really bad, there is plenty of good baseball players out there and they can't find any! I think they must be spending all their time eating and chasing Ho's!
