Its never too late is it?

What would be the one thing you just know you could be great at but for one reason or another missed the opportunity?

Gynecologist. I've been practicing it for years on an amateur level and haven't made a cent. But then again, staring at those clams all day, every day, would probably ruin my libido. Oh well, I guess I'll stay an amateur.

JMan,
I'd have been a teacher. I wanted to switch junior year, but it would have took me an extra semester to graduate - and frankly I was just flat broke & wanted NO MORE loans ... lol

There's NO reward (besides $$$) in my field. I'd like to feel like I was giving something back to the world.

You mentioned wanting to be a teacher... I almost went that way too. But my father was in education and he threatened to whip my ass if I went into coaching. God bless him, he was right. Our teachers are grossly underpaid in this country. That's why the level of education is slipping in the US. It's criminal what teachers start out making when they graduate college.

Yeah the pay scale is way way off...Teaching and Police are two that are way underpaid....Meanwhile we have guys batting .240 making 4 million a year..

Its a shame 'youth' is wasted on the young, in a nutshell we all would be better served if we had the wisdom we end up with...

I would love to have been a grocery store bagger instead of a newspaper man, the middle of the night paper delivery just isn`t cutting it

max & j-man, gotta disagree with ya here. no question that teachers play a crucial role in our society but they are not underpaid (in america). i have had this conversation a hundred times with teachers i know who complain about what they make. the law of supply and demand determines what teachers make. the simple fact is, there are so many people who want to be teachers, they drive the salaries down. if teachers were in higher demand, they would have to be paid more.

to the teachers i know who complain about the fact that they only make $35-$40k/year, i ask them..."did you know what teachers make before you decided to major in education"? they always answer "yes". "then, you obviously didn't get into it for the money...right"? i ask. they answer, "no, i wanted to make a difference in a kid's life". to which i say, "if you're a good teacher, you will make a difference, but you knew you wouldn't make any money so, quit bitching about it. plus, you get summers off, two weeks in december and a week in march. i drag my ass in to work all year and get 3 weeks vacation".

Dante- YOU HAVE ONE TOO? DAMN I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ROCKET MAN AROUND HERE...

In my next life I will be playing centerfield somewhere besides the local highschool.. I get tired of dressing up in these big league uniforms every evening , only to shag fly balls by some passer by that I pay to hit me a few...

Lander and Blue,

Not sure where you guys live, but teachers starting salaries (I am not a teacher) are close to $40M here, and rise quickly (requires getting your masters). Masters with 5 or 7 years is $70M+, and I think they max out in the low to mid 80's. My kids are going into 1st and 3rd grade, and I don't bithc about my taxes supporting the teachers. God bless them.
