Reporting Line Errors...Do The Books Owe Us Anything???

Just wondering what you guys think about reporting line errors?? I ALWAYS report them because betting into them USUALLY gets you nowhere so I might as well let the book know and maybe get a little something to play with.

Do you feel the books should reward this honesty with anything at all??

Just wondering because when I report one to Bowmans they always give me $50...which is awsome. BUT....when I report one to CARIB (Like A line still being open) they always tell me to "Purchase 2 $1 squares and we will reimburse you" $2 with a "Chance" to win $25 seems cheap as hell for possibly saving this book a lot of money???

I know some books don't reward you with anything and it just seems wrong. Maybe I'm just cheap as hell???

Any thoughts??

I tend to agree that they should give you some small amount like $25 or so, to encourage the reporting. But of course they don't 'owe' you anything, but it is smart business on their part to do so. I can say this with certainty: while I will never bet an obviously bad line, if a line is 'borderline' I still won't touch it but for those books who don't reward you, I won't bother reporting it to them, which means they might have to honor some bets later. In other words, pay me now or pay them later - works both ways in business

I mean a "Obviously" bad line....like a line being open while the game is in progress or even over.

like at Bodog right now...I sent them a email letting them know that they have the Matheiu/Lopez tennis match going off at 11:30pm EST tonight and it's already in the second set...lol

Now that is a line error...lol

I agree, they should reward you in some way, whether it be a small amount of cash in your account, or a Bonus Play of some sort.

No, if they don't reward you why bother? You're doing their job for free - besides, those bets will be voided anyway.

I always report line error. I never expect a comp, but also never turned one away

Either way, it's a nice start in building a relationship with the book at hand.

Lander, you have a point, but I truly doubt reporting the odd error to a book who won't reward you will build any meaningful relationship. Reporting an error in your account balance to the book (in their favor, of course) is far more likely to be remembered than reporting a bad line they wouldn't honor anyway, at least IMHO.

When you moving to Canada, and where??

But some of them do?? I think is fair and they limit their exposure, most of all for their image because they never get heat financially , they shelter behind policies such as "in the event of a human error the book blablablabla, yatayatayata.."

I have reported to 5 Dimes a few times, and they do not give anything. Not even a thank you in response to my email.

By far the best comp I got was from Sportingbet. They had an obviously bad line, and after I notified them they let me bet it anyway, then immediately closed it for everyone else. Got an easy middle from it.

I called a book two months to ask them if that total in an afl game of [198.5]
icon_smile.gif
was right. They thanked me by giving me a free $50 parlay.
I wouldn't say they owed me anything, but it is good customer service on their part.
I saw a bad halftime line on an nba 2nd half game +12 instead of +2couple of years ago.I called them and the clerk put me on hold and some manager got on thanked me for calling and asked me how much i wanted to play on the half at the real price,I told him only $100.He said OK you can have them for $100 taking the 12,let me get a pen i have to right it up!
So it is worth calling them up.Oh... I would have won the bet either way

Jazz,
You'd think so right? Well, not with Canbet. I reported a $1700 error in my favor. Got a thank you email from the clerk with the cute accent. Well, 2 days later I clicked "action" instead of "both listed" (they oddly enough have action as the first choice) & 30 seconds later asked Canbet to change my bet to "listed" - the line hadn't moved & the starters were the same.

They refused. I told them I just reported a $1700 error & they couldn't make a minute adjustment?? They didn't even respond.

Well, the game went on as expected without a pitching change so it never mattered, but still

Fuk Canbet.

Betmonkey, you are not saving them any money. Carib or any other book is not going to pay off on bets that are made after the game starts. I have notified Olympic of a bad line a few times. Spiro sent me an e-mail thanking me, that was good enough for me.

Lander: that story about Canbet surprises me somewhat, but I believe at that time they were operating under strict Australian rules. I don't know that for a fact, but I do know other books do have flexibility to do things like that.

Just to be clear, I've reported errors when I see them to any book - the first time - and I'd say about 70% of the books have credited me, which was appreciated. For the other 30%, I have no axe to grind but I simply don't bother reporting the bad lines any longer to them. It's not a question of greed, it's a question of fairness - even a $10 parlay would be a nice gesture, even if they will eventually void the bet anyway. Why, you ask? Because the book will lose the potential income from booking bets on that bad line when they eventually void all wagers, so there definitely is a business reason for them to encourage the reporting of those lines.

It's all good when you build a relationship with the books.....When there is a bad line and the client reports it to the book it creates a honest partnership....25 bucks or more is a great throw back to the real gamblers out there....
Hey JJGOLD your a F***ing bum man....Always going off about certain occurances in certain books and you never got any true infomation...I believe you are just a "sqaure" player ....and when you get beat you come in here with your non-solid put downs!!!!!
