......unlike baseball and football , basketball games should be the most likely to play out as handicapped.....One play cannot swing a game critically against you like in baseball or football....This past week i have seen more games go terribly wrong and most hinged on one key play, errors , blown calls, fluke home run by a guy with 1 lifetime homer....In basketball one play isn`t going to kill a game like it can and does in baseball and football...

Now I just have to figure out how to justify this to my gambling appetite for these to great sports

it does make sense , with as many possesions in a basketball game , it should be the truest outcome...

Actually when it comes to basketball spread betting I think just the opposite is true. How many games come down to meaningless fouling and making or missing the free throws at the end? A lot! And the reffing is huge in basketball as it's involved in damn near every trip down the court. It can make a big difference.

The real reason why baskets is the easiest game to beat (next to baseball) is because when you shop for good lines, and you find a game that is off by a half a point, that basically wipes out the vig and makes it an even juice bet for you.. Not exactly wipes it out, but pretty darn close. A half a pt in baskets is worth more than any half pt in NCAA football and NFL (not incl the 3).. So when you bet the Pats at -7.5 instead of -8, or you find the Eagles at -4.5 instead of -5, you are basically gaining no advantage here, very minimal.. Even 1 full pt better on most numbers in the NFL will be a losing proposition.. Whereas NBA, any line advantage you can get here, you will DEFINITELY come up on top.

That is why RIO is so big this year boys with the Half Point.. Go grab it fast. But boys, do NOT take the half pt on the NBA totals, that is a losing proposition. Make sure it's on the side.

One other thing...the idea that it's the "most reliable" also then means that it's the worst to bet on, right? Because if it's so reliable and easy to cap then the odds and spreads are going to be more accurate thus reducing or eliminating any positive value.

SG, that is where you are CORRECT! And that goes to my point about how accurate the lines are and also supports Journey's theory that the games are the most "reliable".

Unfortunately RIO has eliminated the free half for hoops (except for Fridays)....probably because they got hammered on it last year.

d2bets...that is exactly why ..its all compiled into the odds...just figure which way the game will be fixed and your good to go..

its easier than trying to figure out which lifetime puch and judy hitter will hit a three run shot with two out in the 7th on a 1-2 pitch...or which sure handed infielder will throw away the game with two outs in the 9th...or even worse, when lightning strikes and your play is a wash when it had no chance of losing...

lol sounds like you've had some bad beats lately. Actually I think baseball is the easiest to beat for a couple reasons....first, because of the proliferation of reduced juice and the variety of odds offered you can basically get whatever side you want just about vig-free with a little line shopping. That evens the playing field right there. Capping-wise you can gain an edge by knowing the teams and players and going behind the stats and numbers that everyone relies on and understanding the matchups between pitchers and hitters which are not reflected in the stats used to create the lines.

About betting basketball....
I believe the things you gentlemen are discussing are all viable..But I believe you miss the obvious..The coach has as much to do at the end of the game as the players..Some coaches manage the game till the final buzzer, and others dont..If you watch the end of games and the line is on the #, its how the coach who is trying to make the game closer coaches..Fratello, Jackson, Saunders, Daly would work magic at the end of games..Rivers also is becoming great at closing..The greatest though is Riley..He will take time outs with 3 seconds to go, down 10 and call a play that is a situational one for the future..Van Gundy the same way..
A close line on the road can be determined sometimes by myself as who the opposing coach is..A tactical coach may not be a friend to the player, but at the end of the game I want him coaching my side..
