FAIRFIELD - Former Fairfield University men's basketball players have accused the coaching staff of NCAA violations that could lead to sanctions against the program.

Players allege that National Collegiate Athletic Association rule infractions including cash handouts, academic fraud and falsification of drug tests were committed during head coach Tim O'Toole's tenure.

Fairfield director of athletics Gene Doris said Monday the school launched an internal investigation in March, after an anonymous letter was sent to the university president, the Rev. Aloysius P. Kelly.
