.....actually, I am guilty and I know this will open a whole can of worms and irritate many of the posters in here....

....but there are alot of threads in this offshore forum that really belong on different sites altogether. I agree with what was said before....we need more gambling related posts and less of everything else. Especially the dirty sh!t. There are other forums on this site that can be used for that purpose.

Don't get me wrong....I enjoy the wide variety of topics (probably more so than most) and I have started a few off-base threads myself.....but I just feel that this place is better suited for the offshore sportsbooks and other various gambling issues.

It shouldn't have to be so hard to search for the gambling related topics, but with all the other stuff cluttering this forum, it is. Even Columbo would have a hard time sifting through all the garbage in here.

You can consider this my plea bargain.

Mad - here is the problem, everyone doesn't mind what they like being here (in addition to the legit stuff) but feel the other stuff should go they don't like. Not to pick on you but since you brought it up you just mentioned your upcoming marriage and I think it's GREAT you shared that with us. Not only because you are a solid poster and well respected here but because I personally like hearing about stuff like that. In the past we have had people argue against EXACTLY this same "fluff" (his word not mine) being here. You also recently were posting your plays here in off-shore, though we didn't really want to when we got complaints we had to move them to the baseball forum. If I remember correctly while you were decent about it the thing rubbed you the wrong way. I can't tell you how many people will complain about stuff they don't like but make a case for what they do enjoy.

Bottom line is the Off-shore forum is sort of a catch all here. It will never be only about off-shore books. Things we have a specific forum for (like picks) we try and send them there but we can not have a designatd forum for every topic. This place is so busy we have been constantly taking stuff out of here and creating other forums. We have a place for picks, poker, newbies, Outhouse, technical stuff, promotions etc.... We just can't make enough forums to keep this place only about off-shore books. Best I can tell you is skim the titles and you can tell pretty much if it is a thread about a book or something that will interest you.

I agree as busy as Off-shore is it can be hard to skim through and pull out the stuff you might like but it beats the alternative.

As I mentioned, ".....I enjoy the wide variety of topics (probably more so than most) and I have started a few off-base threads myself...."

I was just trying to bring up the other side here for the people who dont have a strong enough voice. Maybe its just my lawyer instinct

The fact is, this is more of a community than a forum. Think of it as your corner sports bar. Most of the chatter is about sports but there is always going to be a healthy dose of other topics.

This in a way is kind of a one stop forum. Since we discuss damn near anything here, we all spend alot of time here. I think this is what separates the RX from the rest of the sites.

If you have noticed the other sites are so dead, they have nothing to talk about EXCEPT what we are talking about on the RX.

It is this flexibility, this flavor that we have that makes the RX #1 by a long stretch.

Newbies might get turned off by it, but if they stick around a few days they will understand why they have found the best resource on the net.

Doesn't anyone else see it this way?

If you are not interested in a particular thread, don't click on it.

I would have to agree with MadCapper. I can go through a whole page and maybe 3 threads are gambling related.

The other stuff is fine, but there are plenty of forums on this site where it can go.

I must admit that I am guilty as well of this. I just think it would make this forum a lot better keeping it gambling and sportsbook related.

As you mentioned before this place is just like Cheers.......

Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got;
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?

All those night when you've got no lights,
The check is in the mail;
And your little angel
Hung the cat up by it's tail;
And your third fiance didn't show;

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to be where you can see,
Our troubles are all the same;
You want to be where everybody knows your name.

Roll out of bed, Mr. Coffee's dead;
The morning's looking bright;
And your shrink ran off to Europe,
And didn't even write;
And your husband wants to be a girl;

Be glad there's one place in the world
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to go where people know,
People are all the same;
You want to go where everybody knows your name.

Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;

Good post Gringo.

As far as other sites bashing us that sort of goes with the territory. Reggie Jackson used to say they don't boo nobody's. Also understanding the who and why makes it easy to accept the anger. Most posters at these places are wanting to fit in with the others and be accepted so they join in on the bashing. I can't blame them for that so you will see a lot of "you see what I got them on yesterday over there"? Everyone needs a pat on the back from time to time.

Lot of good forums out there IMO but only one RX.

IMHO I enjoy the diversity of subject matter here in Offshore. I do think stone picks or predictions on a particular game are better off in theForum of the sport involved. I know when I am looking for a play from some of the very good cappers here at the Rx. Offshore is the last place I will look. Either the sport forum or the Rubber Room, both have lots of solid information and if you are interested picks and yes I'll say it, Fades.

wil.
