No more free half points for hoops (except on Fridays). In their defense, they did refund the prorated membership feee. Anyone else disappointed by this decision? Free half points for everyone for football is alright but of course it doesn't apply on or off 3 or 7 which accounts for like 2/3's of the games.

Oh well.

We can thank the guy that lives in his Mom's basement and his multiple accounts at Rio for that. What a scam he had going. Multiple bonuses and a few middles to boot.

Well, thats not good. I lost over $15K to rio during the basketball season. I lose to them every year. Because I am a middler and 95% of the time I used to bet the oppsoite site of steam moves since they were quick in moving their lines.
There is no value in their lines and if they dont offer that half point anymore then why should I keep them?? I will take my money out after the football season is over!

I think they are making a mistake. probably, they should not offer it to new customers but they should review their existing customers accounts history and let people like me keep it!

Why not???? They are making money off of me. The have been doing that for the last two years and the would have continued to do so for years to come based on my betting pattern!

I love Rio/Skybook but if they are going to keep -110 vig then they are do different then any other book for hoops and I could play at Canbet, Pinnacle, or Betworks for cheaper.

It's true, at least I checked my Skybook account and there definitely is no half-points for the WNBA. Given that their MLB is not a dime line, then Seymour is correct about the baskets - their lines offer no advantage now and no incentive to bet there over other books. Which might be the way they want it. However, as d2bets pointed out, they do have the other promotions, so at least there will be some value there.

I'll miss the platinum promotion

The way you find out that you are no longer a platinum member is not via any kind of contact, but rather when you go to make a bet, you don't get the 1/2 point?!?!?!?!

A decision is one thing, but the way this is being handled SUCKS!!!

Bart: I agree 100%, I certainly would not have handled it this way without sending emails to all customers with platinum accounts. Skybook has always shown class before, and honored their wagers before without a complaint, so though aggravated I'm not overly pissed about it. I would hope that Rio and Skybook either send out the emails now or post this news on their website - to cut people off without notice is not professional.

qs185,

We emailed all previous platinum account holders whom we had an email address on file for. If you are a platinum acct holder and did not receive an email, contact our customer service and provide us with your email address so as to always be informed.

We have a lot of great things going on with the Rio International Group companies. Expect an official announcement on the FREE 1/2 POINT PROGRAM we will be offering for this FOOTBALL SEASON soon!

dead on: incorrect. That promotion is still in effect. What we're referring to is the Platinum membership, which cost $300 per year, and with which you got half-points on ALL basketball and football games (except 3 and 7).

Thanks for responding, Rio. I'll check with Skybook to find out why I didn't get mine.

Can I get this straight. If the platinum account expires towards the end of college foots but before baskets is the platinum member still going to get the .5 point on all foots except 3 and 7? But then gets screwed on early NBA which would start before the annual expiration?

Is there an option to get a prorated refund of the remaing $300 if the customer does not want the points for foots but really wanted the half for early NBA?

Mike,

I will check, but I have e-mailed with RIO and Skybook, so if they don't have my e-mail, it must have gotten lost (again). The last time my platinum membership expired, I didn't get an e-mail notification and found out the same way I found out about this - that is, when I went to make a bet and didn't get the free 1/2 point. At that time, I made sure they had my e-mail address and they said I would be contacted when my membership was nearing expiration so as to not have it lapse again.
