I still remember that guy on TV saying how much the terrorists hate us. They are gealous of our freedom. They hate our freedom. They hate us because of our freedom! They want to destroy our freedom and so on......

Patriot Act, anti gambling bill, whats gone be next???

So who is doing a better job of destroying your freedom????????????

Your government or the terrorists???

Am I Tight,
This is a trick question as A is a subset of B

B, because terrorists do not give you the option to live, even on their terms, whereas if you have a problem with A you can get the hell out of the country. No trick involved, its pretty simple actually.

There is hardly any freedom left in the US. I say if you like freedom, leave. The founding fathers are turning over in their graves.

Ok, since you obviously must have hundreds of examples, name one personal not gambling related thing that you are not able to do now that you were able to do 3 years ago.

3 years ago I could publish a paper on how to modify a satellite TV reciever on the internet without fear of prosecution.

3 years ago I didn't have the gov't spying on my email
3 years ago I didn't have to worry about being indefinately detained, without a lawyer, trial before my peers or basic human rights

3 years ago I wouldnt have my index fingerprint taken if I visited Disneyworld as a foreign national.

3 years ago you could use your credit card on the net, any way you liked. It was your money, your choice, paypal too.

So now you can't put $50 into a pissy offshore sportsbook. Thats a big problem.
But if you want a .357 hand cannon that could bring down a rhino, and you want hollowpoints with it. OK, thats no problem.
Strange stuff.

Ok, since we've got so many geniuses, lets analyze these answers. (Despite the fact that I was addressing Tell It Like It Is, since I know what brain numbing drivel I can expect from Lander).

"3 years ago I could clip my nails on an airplane." Wow, that is pretty scary. Have you ever done that.

"3 years ago I could publish a paper on how to modify a satellite TV reciever on the internet without fear of prosecution."

Not quite sure what is stopping you. Again, is this something that you have done in the past that you no longer do?

"3 Years ago I could travel abroad without being embarassed to be an American."

We're talking here about things that you are allowed and not allowed to do, not your feelings. Obviously this does not address the question in any way whatsoever. It is your choice to be embarrassed if you want. That is not a requirement.

"3 years ago I didn't have the gov't spying on my email. 3 years ago I didn't have to worry about being indefinately detained, without a lawyer, trial before my peers or basic human rights."

Has the govt spied on your email? Do you have proof of this? Have you been detained?

Let me repeat the question, maybe I wasn't clear enough. What things have you done in the past, or that you cannot do now. ACTUAL THINGS THAT YOU HAVE DONE. Maybe for once there can actually be a normal conversation without the histerics.

By the way Lander, do you still use email? Since it is so dangerous, have you stopped using it? Just curious.

Igetp2s, you aren't seriously going to argue that way are you?

You haven't done anything wrong, have you? Then surely you have nothing to hide and need no privacy.

Have I been detained? Do you think the Catholics in Nazi Germany paid much attention when they we're shipping off the Jews and homosexuals? Do you think they knew they were next?

Some of us don't want history to repeat itself, and we're going to speak out against the facism before it consumes another good country.

"Igetp2s, you aren't seriously going to argue that way are you?"

Why not, it seems like a much more effective way of arguing than your ridiculous examples.

"Have I been detained? Do you think the Catholics in Nazi Germany paid much attention when they we're shipping off the Jews and homosexuals? Do you think they knew they were next?"

I am Jewish and am extremely familiar with the Holocaust. Please dont insult my intelligence by trying to compare the Patriot Act to the Final Solution. Give me Fvcking break.

If you are so concerned, then you have plenty of work to do. There dozens and dozens of countries with real problems of fascism and human rights abuse that you can worry about before the US. If you would like assitance in determing those countries, I will be more than glad to help.

This is just a question in general to all of you. If you are so miserable living here, and there are so many better places to live, then why do you stay here.

I just don't get it. This is not meant as an insult or criticism. I am genuinely curious as to why you all CHOOSE to stay here when to you it obviously is a terrible place to live. I know for sure that if I was this unhappy I wouldn't stay. Thank you for your input.

lots of innocent civilians have lost the right to love or hug their brothers, sisters and parents any more because they no longer exist.
How many examples of these can I get for you Ibetp2s? Or are these examples too insigneficant for you to consider?

I am an American, and unlike many of your ilk, I do not subscribe to the "love it or leave it" theory when it comes to this country. I will focus my efforts on the United States, thank you very much. It is a democracy and change is always possible in a democracy.

I am Jewish too, so you don't get to hide behind that and stop the arguement today, sorry. As a Jew you should have been taught the value of asking questions as a child, it comes up repeatedly in the teachings. But we cannot ask questions if people are being dissappeared without trial, and if facts are being withheld in the name of terrorism.

This is how things started in Germany.. a (reasonbly legitimate) election then the invasions of privacy. Just because the Patroit act is a bit more politically correct than something spewed from Hitler's mouth does not make it any less damaging.

I know tell me about. 3,000 people died within a mile of me 2 years ago. These examples are extremely significant, and the Patriot Act seeks to ensure this does not happen again.

Somehow, though, I dont think those are the "innocent people" that you are too worried about
