Betworks: They change lines on you and are afraid of action

Betworks likes to put up a decent line to attract you. If you bet it soft, you will get that line. If you bet it hard they will change the line on you as you've hit confirm at will!

"In reference to the wager you attempted on the White-Sox, you were simply beaten to the number by another player who made a max bet. The other player bet the number first, and the line was changed as a result, before you confirmed your bet. Therefore you received the changed line message."

I had at one time 5 bets in a row cancelled and said LINE CHANGE but it was total BS. They say someone bet "at the same time" everytime. So today i watched a number sit up there for about 30 minutes. I bet it for max and they said "LOWER LIMITS 1 HOUR BEFORE GAME TIME". What are they chicken to take a 2 dime bet? So they lower it to a dime? Isn't most betting late betting? Then immediatelly lowered my bet to 1000 on hit bet and they said line change. They knew i wanted the number and to see if i would still bet it they change the line because they don't want too much action on one side.

I must assume they are not well bankrolled because what real book would be afraid of action? especially late game? I've never heard of this. They call this "not unique" too their book.

"It has recently been decided by our Management that large bets just before game time do not allow us time to attract counter-action and therefore leave us open to greater risk. We have therefore reduced limits in the final hour of betting on a game. This practice is not unique to us. We are happy to accept larger bets placed earlier, that allow us to move our lines and reduce our risk."

This shop is not well organized if they are afraid of late money and 1-2 dime bets and have to change lines on you because they don't want the action. Why is it that the line never changes in my favor when i bet? 7/9 times it changes and someone bets max at the exact same time i do? Please that is near statistical improbability.

They may pay fast (we'll see i withdrew over 8 dimes today for their stunts) but if they will change the line on you as you bet it frequently and lower limits because they are afraid of action.

Not a solid book.

That doesn't sound too good. Is this something new or have they always been like this?

Excuse me.

I feel compelled to step forward and ask this person what gives him/her the god-given right to bet whatever number he/she might choose?

Betworks happens to be a solid shop that will pay if you win. They do have the good sense to move a number if they become uncomfortable.

Anybody with half a brain would appreciate their position and welcome it if they happen to like the opposite side.

Again, to be sure you get this, it does require a minimum of 1/2 a brain.

Posting a price on your site and then when the user goes to bet it changing it because you feel uncomfortable with it is bait and switch which is illegal in most states and bad business practices.

This has to be the stupidest post I have ever read. Sure they have a right to change any number they want but if the other poster is accurate and they always change a line AFTER the guy tries to place a bet on the line posted that is ridiculous. They can change it all they want AFTER the guy hits it but to try to tell him everytime someone else bet it at the same time is nonsense. If that is what really happened of course.

The software *can* be set to do this...

Say everywhere has Fav -150/Dog +140

Set software at -155/+145... Software takes all favs but rejects dogs. After reset the dog is +139

Our software is not able to do as Frank suggested - nor would we do that.

It is not bait and switch. The line was there for "30 minutes", by the time the particular wager request was received - almost at game time, we had reached our maximum exposure and the price was adjusted. He was beaten to the price - this is unfortunate, but that is the fact.

By betting earlier, this situation could have been avoided.

Not that it should automatically disqualify his comments but the poster who started this is one who has had LOT of beefs. I only mention this because I was curious myself why someone would use an alias to make a post like this about a book. Maybe he thought his other disputes might make some less likely to believe him here. Anyway he's an okay guy but he is high maintenance when it comes to the books he plays with.

If you are going to bet and you are serious about it you need alot of outs - if they move the line against you play it else where - if they move in your favor play it there - every book offers something diferent - Canbet only takes $200 on baseball totals - so in my opinion they suck for baseball totals but they are good for sides.

As long as the Book doesn't change the line AFTER your bet is confirmed, like SIA and Casablanca did, there is no problem. Don't like the price, shop elsewhere.

HamNEggs, err...betworkssucks,

You are entitled to your opinon but I see nothng wrong with a sports book not wanting to take a larger bet by their standards just before a game starts...

They have every right to reduce their limits
at post time and they aren' the only ones who do so...

Just like you get to choose how much you want to risk when gambling, then why shouldn't a sports book be able to choose how much they want to hold?

If this is not the book for you, then there are many other choices out there....

Betworks is solid financially, and I have heard nothing but good feedback about them ...
