Looks like he'll go to 13-5 after today and lower his ERA to under 3. Another strong outing.

First he has to get by teamate Jamie Moyer. The leading candidates are Roy Halladay, Estaban Loaiza, Mark Mulder, Mike Mussina, Moyer and Piniero. The AL has no relievers who have a shot unlike the NL where Schmoltz, Gagne, and Wagner are probably the frontrunners, along with Jason Schmidt.

wil.

If they were smart they'd give him lots of starts at Safeco. He is downright nasty at home!

He was somewhat ineffective earlier in the season but really got it together about the end of May. When he first made it to MLB he looked like he could be a dominant pitcher, righties couldn't hit him and lefties hit lots of grounders to the left side as he has that cutting fastball. Lots of pitchers have that pitch now and major league hitters are just so good they figure out how to hit it. I suppose the same will happen to him later this season. Unless you have serious heat like Halladay has or you have such an array of pitches they can't put you on anything like Moyer then its hard to consistently dominate for a full season. Hence most Cy Youngs of recent years have been mostly fastball pitchers.
