What is likely to happen with the regulation of the US industry?
Is it likely that online sportsbetting will be prohibited ... or will they strive for a tight regulated environment?
Are the authourites likely to go very far in order to prevent US citizens to bet with bookmakers around the world, such as preventing registrations by agreement with bookmaker or preventing money transfers?
If yes, to the last part, do you think there will be ways to circumvent it?
Do you think the US betting industry is facing very tough times, due to the legal issues, which the politicians eventually will deal with?

I'm a European myself, but I am very curious about what will happen in this case and what the effects will be.

Any views will be GREATLY appreciated.

Rasmus, Most of us in the US are waiting and hoping and praying that the US Senate does not act on anything this year. We have two bodies that make Federal law( Senate and House of Reps.) The House has passed something which is very negative, but the Senate has not acted. When and (if) they do act the bills must be ironed (fine print), before going to the President. Let's hope ALL the 911 culprits are caught and then MAYBE-this will die. But-I'm not holding my breathe.

But let's assume the bill is passed. Is it likely we will see the entire US betting industry close down?

It seems almost incomprehensible if this is going to happen. Is it more likely that the bookies and bettors will find ways to circumvent a prohibition?

Rasmus...I think they will find a way to get around it. But this year I do not see it happening.

No, There will always be ways to bet offshore. Maybe harder in transferring monies, but it will be done.
