Good question J-man. Most of 'em can't even lay down a sacrifice bunt anymore.

It just irritates the piss out of me to see all these multi-millionaires who can't even perform simple, basic, fundamental baseball tasks.

Back in the day...Who could really hit Vini?

I know Palmer was decent, Cuellar and McNally each hit postseason grand slams ...

Yeah Willis hit a nice shot tonight.

Is it me or does it seem like usually in the past the Braves always had decent hitting pitchers.

I guess best hitter of all time (who pitched) would be Babe Ruth right? He broke in as a pitcher until they saw what kind of lumber he had.

Sledge - thank you sir, good to speak to you again. Didn't know you posted here, don't be a stranger.

BTW do you have Florida too, is that why that hit from Willis looked so good?

Red Sox had a guy named Rick Wise in the 70's who used to pinch hit regular. Tonight the Cub's Carlos Zambrano, hitting .238 on the year hit a two run, two out homerun off Wade Miller to tie the Cubs-Astros game at 3 to 3 in the top of the seventh. Dusty Baker let him hit losing 3 to 1 and it paid off big. Cubs went on to win when Moises Alou hit another two run shot in the 8th.

wil.

PS. I had the friggin Astros.
