After following her for a while, she actually hits the ball quite well and held up pretty good under all the pressure. And she won't come in last! Duval is lucky he withdrew after his 83.

She doesn't deserve any credit at all. She shouldn't even be in the tournament. She weaseled her way in by playing from the women's tees in the sectional qualifier to get into the Greater Hartford Open. Had she played from the men's tees like she should have, she'd be watching the tournament on TV. The whole thing is an embarassment to sports. Her appearance in this tournament is a complete joke.

Soccerbob,

Unfortunately her playing from the ladies tees in the qualifier was OK by the rules...though like you I don't agree with it. Bottom line is she made it to the tourney by the rules and held up a lot better than expected. And she did end up beating a couple of the guys which was a real shocker.

I agree with Send... that's the way the PGA of Americas set it up and she won under the rules applied.

Fortunately those moronic rules have been changed because this fraud got into this tournament under those idiotic rules. I always find it funny when women want equality but then find ways around the spirit of the rules when it benefits them.

Do any of you guys think a man could have tried to qualify for an LPGA event by playing in a sectional and hitting from the ladies tees? Not a chance. Seeing as it probably took 5 hours to play each round that means she got her 10 hours of fame. Which was 9 hours and 59 minutes more than she deserved or earned.

soccer,

The facts are as follows:

The PGA of America set up the rules. And that board is or was all men. She didn't circumvent the rules, she didn't even help make them. The tee's she played from were appoximately 10% shorter than the tee's played by the men. Why that %? Because that would put the women hitting approximately the same irons into the par 4's and 3's that the men do. She played that tourney at about 6400 yds. She wasn't playing from the reds. The PGA of America did this because each year a larger % of it's members are women. The pay the same dues as the men and are entitled to the same benefits for those dues. BTW... the Sr pro's get the same break in local pro-am's, at least in the Sun Country section they do.

If this sounds like I'm in favor of the PGA Tour allowing women to play, I'm not. But she earned her way in and didn't get to play because the Bank of America wanted some free publicity. She deserved to play more than Sorestam did, IMO.
