I don't want to disrespect your thread Journeyman, I love it. I was gonna post a non-fiction speech from a movie, but I'm gonna start a new thread.

I do remember a few of Mohamed Ali's speeches hitting me a little in the heart though.

How about , the speech from Field Of Dreams "People will come"

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again. Oh people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come.

If that doesn`t move you , nothing will

Yeah, I'm a youngin, but I used to watch ESPN Classic Sports religiously with my father. Some of the best games were before my time that I got to see afterwards. One game I remember (I just looked it up to make sure) was watching an NFL game from 1975, Cowboys-vs-Vikings. And they say the "Hail Mary" was created. I could be wrong

Two great ones SSI, I have thought of them...I didn`t want to list all the good ones right away,lol....

The first Brian Song movie is a classic...even if it is kind of tackily made...We don`t really know what the speech was in the locker room , in Baltimore that day...

The Jim Valvano speech on TV where he could barely stand up. That was incredible and I'll always remember it.

Journeyman- Field of Dreams is my all time favorite movie. There were so many special moments in that movie and you brought up one of them. I'll be at the Angels-Red Sox game on August 5th on my trip back home to Massachusetts. When they left Fenway Park in the movie and drove away from the park, they passed the pub that my brother had dinner at the last time I was at Fenway Park. Great movie.

city slickers had some great baseball talks,, when i was 18 and my dad and i couldnt talk about anything else, we could talk about baseball.. and why is it important to know who played 3rd base for the 1960 pirates.. ----- baseball links generations better than any sport, but the main reason that i love it is, because there are no clocks, no time limits, a game could last forever.. its also the only game that the team without the ball scores, the team with the ball is on defense..

Baseball still is the single greatest game there is no doubt, the history , the game within the game, fathers and sons nothing compares to the game of baseball....BUT MLB HAS BEEN RUINED FOR OVER 10 YEARS! Who wants to see 5 teams compete for the Trophy ? If I was Yankees fan I still wouldn`t like it!

Giambi leaving Oakland, Griffey leaving Seattle, this stuff should never happpen...The Game will never be what it was 20 years ago..

Good topic . I concur with SSI - John Caps speech in " Something for Joey " gets me everytime. If that's not the Best DAmn Heisman trophy speech then KOBe Bryant is monogomous.
