Strut - huge offensive team but do they have the pitching to contend for the rings? I think not.

Have improved their middle relief quite a bit using Todd Jones - Alan Embree - Mike Timlin - adding Scott Sauerbeck and Byung Hyun Kim to close. Their problem remains starting pitching:
Pedro Martinez - Derek Lowe - Tim Wakefield - John Burkett - and Today's guy Ramiro Mendoza. Dont be suprized to see a deal for maybe Dave Suppan from the Pirates. Another quality starter is a must if they have any chance of catching the Yanks (longshot under any circumstances). Typical Red Sox dilemma: plenty of hitting - weak pitching - what else is new???

Now I believe that the BoSox have the best pen in the AL.

Starters are the problem.

This is their year!!!

As if on Que. Mendoza gives up 5 runs to the Drays. Putting an exclamation point on this thread, at least the part about Red Sox starting pitching.

The damage is now 11-3. Not a good outing for Mendoza 4.1 innings, 9 hits, 7 rbi, 1k

Sorry Strut, this guy is the biggest Red Sox fan in the world. I played the Rays a day to early, story of my life. Of course with Tampa's bullpen and the Red Sox bats anything can happen.

He did say there was value in Zambrano though. No one knows sports like Strut.

This thread is being misconstrued. All I am saying is the Red Sox have a great line-up........never said they could contend for a title. Amazing how the media puts falsehoods into my statements.

McIrich- Yes, I believe they are a big underdog to win it all........boy, that is an understatement.
