I do not believe the Jazz offer Brad Miller 6-year deal worth about $52 million

If this is their answer to Malone gone, then they will be battling Denver for low scoring title in the 2nd halves next year

I like his fire, but he is not worth this kind of money to play in the NBA.

I wish they would take Reggie too.

They have done the same with Greg Ostertag. I just don't understand the Jazz organization. Alllll..... of those years with Stockton and Malone and they never, ever made a strong effort to get them just a little decent help.........

Exactly Hache! They were so dang close...One solid scorer would have pushed them over the top....So close anyway, it was like they had no room to spend a dime!

they did have Hornecek , LOL, a good player but just not enough...they never really talked about bringing in a top free agent, they enjoyed life at the door step!

Even just one above average rebounder and shot blocker would of probably won them a championship Journey with the team they had years ago. Just makes no sense at all! I loved Hornacek.......He was one of those guys who's looks were deceiving, when you or a defender looks at him thinks "this chump cant play"!.....and then he shoots your lights out!....

He is an nice player only and worth 2 mill a season. You wonder why teams go into the hole like this with pimps like the Jazz ownership.

Actually, relative to what other players in the NBA are making Brad Miller is a bargain at that price. Based on his stats weighted by relevance to his position(center) that are also adjusted for game pace and minutes played he is ranked the 5th best center(almost even with #'s2-4) in the NBA and the 34th best player overall. The only reason he can't get more money is that so many teams are salary capped out

The Indiana Pacers could soon learn whether free-agent center Brad Miller will leave the team, possibly to join Utah or Denver.

"We'll know more today," Pacers coach Isiah Thomas said Tuesday. "He's got offers. I don't know if he's signed anything yet."

A message was left Tuesday at the office of Miller's agent, Mark Bartelstein.

Miller, a 7-footer, is considered the top free-agent center still available.

Newspapers in Salt Lake City and Denver -- Miller visited both cities last weekend -- have reported that the center has six-year contract offers of $55 million from the Jazz and $49 million from the Nuggets. He made $5.3 million last season with the Pacers.

Indiana, which last week resigned free-agent forward Jermaine O'Neal to a seven-year contract worth more than $120 million, is only about $7 million short of the NBA's luxury tax threshold. Besides Brad Miller, the Pacers also are working to resign Reggie Miller.

Thomas said he believed the Pacers were doing what they could to persuade Miller to stay.

"Clearly we don't want to lose Brad, but that's the system we're under if it happens," Thomas said.

Pacers chief executive Donnie Walsh said Monday he had little hope of retaining Miller.

"We've done everything we can do," Walsh told The Indianapolis Star. "We've had the whole franchise working on this for a long time. There's just no way to do it."

Walsh told the newspaper he had no hope of a last-minute reprieve.

"(Miller) is not coming to us saying, 'I really want to be there, so let's work it out.' He's negotiating with us like anybody else."

Miller met with Jazz officials Thursday and Friday in Salt Lake City, and later flew to Denver with Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe for further talks.

Miller, who went undrafted out of Purdue, averaged 13.1 points and 8.3 rebounds and made his first All-Star appearance last season. He was acquired in February 2002 from the Chicago Bulls in a seven-player deal.
