Batman60 raised an important question on "credit shops" and Panama...will books be allowed to have credit customers in Panama..

theres seems to be some grey areas on this issue, as you know alot of the "big" costa rican books have credit customers..

please find out what you can and report back to the RX readers...

To the best of my knowledge, there will be no Credit accounts in Panama. I think that is suffice to say.

then Panama will not be the next "mecca" of offshore gambling..........IMO

perhaps Ken or Krackman would post something as to there opinions on this?

I happen to agree with you DPO. I've been down to Panama various times. I can see Panama as a good place to run an operation, especially if all these security measures are being taken. When it comes to living there, there's nothing like an uptown area, defined at least, but the area named Paitilla is very nice.

The bank system is infinitely better there than ANY OTHER PLACE in Latin America, including Mexico.

But you're right on the money. Big books will think twice before facing a definite move to Panama. It's very likely that many books will give it a shot, but it's not likely that a big book is willing to risk their credit business in any way. So they will not be jumping head first into the deep end, UNLESS they settle this BIG inconvenience.

I hope this will not be considered as an attack to the lates hype.

WALK..................exactly im not bashing Panama by any means im just stating the fact the books with credit accounts will not entertain the idea of moving to a location that forbids credit accounts............hell that sounds like the U.S.

It does brother, it does. The last thing a bookie would want is to know his door can be knocked off its hinges any given Saturday morning in Panama. That would go against the very reason why bookies left the motherland in the first place.

I'm sure that as hungry as the Panamenian government is for business, they will work this little detail out.

Now let's be REALLY skeptical, if you were Uncle Sam and you were willing to kill any form of credit business when it comes to wagering from within the US, what would you do? Would you "support" the creation of a "friendly" environment to all these bookmakers in a US-FRIEnDLY location?

What could possibly gain the US government out of this?


Well, for one they could have access to a lot of personal info on online gamblers. Having created an apparently "good" atmosphere, people would relax and could be caught off guard. I know it all sounds like taken out of some creepy, fvcked-up novel; but believe me brother, I have seen weird shit happen.

I know the guys behind BetPanAm are legitimate entrepeneurs, and I wish them a very prosperous season to come. I really do. All I'm doing here is bringing one more point of view into the discussion. So MODS, get that finger away from that ban button...

Dimes/Walk - I don't think it's an attack from you guys at all, seems like fair questions. Surely does seem like something that would need to be worked out before it could be the next gambling mecca. Perhaps it is being worked on right now behind the scenes, who knows?

Should be interesting to see how this all unravels. If I hear anything I will bring it to the forums.
