Why do posters make their complaints on the forums first?

I have been very critical of some of the mods but one thing I don't understand is why do people go to the forums first to air their grievances. To me, the forums should be a last resort, not the first resort. I am sick and tired of people who think they are important because they post on a message board and use the 2 "watchdog" forums to extort a book. Like the other day, my bet on a boxing match was graded erroneously. I think a lot of people would just run to the forums yelling so and so book is a stiff book and get your money out and yada, yada, yada. I emailed the book and talked to the book and the issue was resolved. Why don't you email the books to figure it out? Why don't you email the mods or Major or Shrink or McIrish first? Why do people come to the forums?Makes me think that if I had a legit beef with books that noone could remedy, I wouldn't have a chance in hell because if people continue to use forums to scare the books and the site will eventually lose credibility with the books. For me posting on a forum will always be the last resort.

I think the posters here are smart enough to know when a complaint is worth noting and when it should be ignored.

When I hear that "so and so book graded something wrong" or "so and so book is stiffing me because they want me to fax some ID to them" I blow it off. (as I am sure 99% of the posters do)

In the world of free speech you have to take the good with the bad.

If some poster wants to complain and whine about a book I say let them... If other people want to defend the book... well that is what this is all about.

I just can't see a book going under because of a post on this or any other forum.

Anyone that truly wants to resolve their issue will speak with the book in private, and then the forum mods\owners in private prior to bringing their issue public.

The forums should be a last resort.

People are stupid.

The best ones are $100-200 issues.

Some of these complainers accepted a "loan" from dad for the downstroke on the property they hold title to.

They have nothing better to do.

If you haven't called the book first, then stick the post up your *ss.

Since I've been on the board I've been delay paid a few times 9, 19 & 21 days and have not went to the boards. Some of these books can really piss you off with their excuses and deserve to be called out.

The last book took 9 days and had the nerve to be concerned about the amount of funds I sent in compared to what I beat them for. To top it off they shorted me on the payout. I called about 10 times to correct the payout and no one ever seems to be in, since it's a small amount I've blown it off. So I can see why others would get frustrated dealing with some of these books.

In alot of cases it's to plant the seed and rally the masses together and pressure the books into paying the extortion fee. Ttinco is spot on, honest players with serious problems very seldom reach the forums.

This should be the #1 post of the year. It amazes me how people come to the forums to ask questions of the books without ever asking them directly and then BLAST the books for not answering...

How about the other way around, like Dave from Cascade does.

I always felt this was a last resort to use. I think they all should talk to the books first instead of the mud dragging that goes on at times on the forums, sometimes for no reason.

Try to work it out mono-mono first with the book . then go to the forums as a last resort IMO

Well, I got a dumb question:

Why don't the books like Sportbet just pay when they are suppose to?

I mean geez..he didn't post his slow pay here first! He first tried through the book for a week.

Buzz,
That was the same question I had.

Some of these books have it down pat to delay pay you. Only a small % of players visit these boards and there is several books that seems to have this problem.

I think buddyboy said it best so far. The whiny complaints are generally rebutted or ignored and by the time the thread peters out it's pretty easy to tell where the truth lies.

But for legitimate beefs like slow pays, the BS has to get exposed so the books learn once and for all that this kind of crap will have its consequences. This is one of the few weapons a player has, given the unregulated nature of the bookmaking environment.

In any other type of business, the guys making slow pays could never have gotten into business in the first place because their capitalization is too low. They should be thankful that they can be in business at all, leave alone expecting their BS to get hushed up.

I can see why a player would want others not to cry wolf, though. He may be concerned that the bad publicity for the book that he's stuck with will make it harder for him to withdraw his money. Well, he has a point, and it may be in his personal interest to keep things quiet. Still, it is in the players' interest at large to expose stuff at the moment it becomes clear that there is something legitimate to expose. Exposure of BS helps us all in the long run.

I will agree that the majority of complaints are either:
1 The players fault
2 Scalpers, middlers and bonus hunters tip- toeing into the grey area of the rules
3 Ghost scammers

And on scond thought, maybe the way RPM handled Sportbet was for the best.

Buzz and outandup- Nice job to both of you. If the books just did their jobs, they wouldn't have to worry about being taken to task. I'm glad when people post their experiences dealing with a sports book. I don't care if it's to give them credit on something or rip them when they have it coming. I don't care if it's over $20 dollars or 20 dimes.

I know they have to deal with scammers, past posters, bonus whores, dual account holders and other hucksters but they need to just boot them. It bothers me when legitimate players get slow payed, bets adjusted or cancelled, rightful bonuses taken away or other things that seem to be happening with more regularity lately.

When that happens, I hope they bring it to light in this forum.

The forum is here to assist players. If the complaint is legit, it should not matter whether brought public 1st or private 1st.

To each their own.

I think that problems with books should be known as often as possible to as many as possible. Not to belittle or harm the book as much as to let them know they have a problem and they are more apt to correct the situation if the forums are aware.

If I owned a book, I could not hold it against a player for complaining here if I made a mistake. My goal would be to not let the same mistakes happen over & over.

We are here to share sportbook info, good & bad.
