There already has been line movement on more than 60 percent of the games listed on the betting board. However the sport isn't baseball, it’s college football.

Earlier this month, the Imperial Palace Hotel in Las Vegas posted lines on more than 50 marquee matchups for the upcoming season.

This has not only become an annual summer ritual for the IP bookmakers, but also one of their most popular propositions.

"Our college games of the year receive more action than our NFL games of the year," said Jay Kornegay, race and sports book director at the IP.

"I think it's because of a wide range of teams that we put up," Kornegay said. "We may be reaching more people with conferences such as the Big East stretching out to the Southeast and to the Pac-10. This gives bettors a wide range of options."

It's one thing to make NFL numbers three months ahead, but doing college games can be trickier.

"It has never really been a big money maker," Kornegay said. "It's more of an opportunity for some of our guests and players to play games they might otherwise not have a chance to bet."

Several games have already moved two and three points. Early money has arrived against Miami where the Hurricanes opened minus three against Virginia Tech on Nov. 1. The IP currently has the game pick'em. For the Oct. 11 Miami/Florida State matchup, the IP opened the Hurricanes minus 1 1/2. But Florida State is currently minus one.

In a game of local interest to Southern Nevada residents, the IP opened Wisconsin minus 19 1/2 against UNLV on Sept. 13. That line currently is down to 17 1/2.

Florida State has drawn early support for its Sept. 20 contest against Colorado. The Seminoles opened 10 1/2 and have been bet up to 13.

Fresno State has been bet up for its Nov. 21 game against Boise State, going from minus three to minus five. Arizona State has received early play for its Oct. 4 matchup against USC. The Trojans opened a field goal favorite, but currently are at minus one.

"You hear the stories of someone betting Arizona plus three in July and here we are in October and Arizona is laying four," Kornegay said. "They feel proud they really got a good line, but we know looking into the computer there are some people who laid the three and didn't get a good line."

So it definitely can work both ways. Both sides are gambling, which is fine with Kornegay. He, sports book manager Ed Salmons and his staff enjoy matching wits with the betting public in football no matter what time of year.

Some other marquee college matchups at the IP include, Florida State minus 10 against Maryland on Sept. 6; Tennessee and Florida a pick'em on Sept. 20; Colorado State minus one against BYU on Oct. 9; Oklahoma minus four against Texas on Oct. 11; Southern Cal minus two against Notre Dame on Oct. 18; Kansas State minus 1 1/2 against Nebraska on Nov. 15; Michigan minus 2 1/2 against Ohio State on Nov. 22; Florida State-Florida pick'em on Nov. 29 and Navy minus four against Army on Dec. 6.
