JABOW:

Pics of the city? Do you want to chase off tourists?

I lived there for 4 years, and downtown SJ is fukking dirty and ugly.

Stick with the beaches, monkeys and girls and you'll be fine.

Joey, you're a funny character, I' dont think there will ever be a welcoming party for you in CR ever again, but the place is not bad, dont know what you're were expecting when you were there, I believe it was your first trip out of your country, was'nt it?

If you enjoy having to have a 9-1 hiring ratio of Jamaicans per American and that causing the worst clerks over the phone in the industry then Jamaica is for you as well.

Chris, sorry to hear that they have you chained and tied down in CR, if thats not the case, well just leave,
I do remember when I was there, that cable was readily available, with many english channels, and icedog, are you expecting the biz to open in a foreign country, make money and dont hire the locals, you want a ratio of 1 to 1? or 2 to 1, which is it, maybe 9-1 is abit steep but you have to hire the locals,
and another thing, its been known that most non locals would say the locals cannot do a job, but yes you have some who may not know, but what about the ones who CAN do it, they are never paid justly, always under paid, and they do more work than the non locals, most of the time, sometimes more dedicated and end up sharper too.
But this is a forum for pics of costa rica not bitching about I took a job in a foreign country and dont have the things like my home town, city, country whatever.
If you dont like it, and you met it that way, then LEAVE, other wise open up your own shop in the indian territory, on the down low or whatever
Hey, how about them pictures, huh?

I lived in SJ for most of 1993; my son was born there. Last time I was in country was 2001; it seems to have slid pretty badly in such a short time. Maybe a little something to do with the crazy Sociliast bastard Pacheco, just a guess of course.

I still have land there near the west coast and have always entertained thenotion of building a nice place on it and retiring one day.

Jabow:

No my friend, your a funny guy.

Perhaps YOU need to take a trip out of the country to see what the rest of the world looks like.

Jabow, I've traveled extensively within every Continent, except Antartica.

Not being one to use politically correct words, Downtown San Jose is a 3rd world shithole.

Joey,
I'm not saying downtown SJ, is the kings palace, but just accept it for what it is, every where you go, in any country, the places you went before, always change, (some dont), they either get better, worst, or currently in between on its way to either direction
in any place you go,
no need to bash a country.

Not bashing the country, just downtown SJ.

Stick with the beaches, monkeys and girls, and you'll be fine.

That's what tourists go there for anyways, so play your strong cards.

Michael:

Obviously you've never been downtown SJ.

Your photo is the mall by Intercont Hotel, not downtown, one of the high end parts of San Jose.

Bottom picture, right side past the nike store. A guy tried to rob me right there....

This country is very over-rated imo. Although, it seems there have been alot of changes for the worse since I have been here...

I just came back from touring the northern part of Costa Rica... namely La Fortuna de San Carlos and the Volcan Arenal area.

Last night we were treated to a night espectacle my family and I had never before witnessed... An active volcano rumbling and spewing lava down its sides all night long. An amazing sight!

We also spent a day at Tabacon Spa & Resort (www.tabacon.com) where you can relax in sizzling, all natural hot springs. Truly an awesome experience.

I met with many, many tourists who were all very satisfied with their visit to Costa Rica.

I got a lot more pics Joey I just haven't had time to post them. Downtown, Mall San Pedro, Heredia, Escazu, etc. And FYI, the area around the IC isn't really all that beautiful.

San Jose is like Mexico City Jr. These books are in a major city, not with laptops on the ocean like some people think. If you can get to either side of the country it's beautiful but the interior is nothing spectacular.
