Does your Sportsbook use a SSL Certificate?

securesiteseal.gif

If your site does not display a VeriSign Secure Site SEAL, or use one of the TOP SSL recomended Certificates your private information and payment transactions may be compromised.

If you input your email address at a book on a page that does not have a SSL cert(https://)...you may start to recieve email offers from other companies that may have Sniffed your email address.

I posted at a book awhile back that didn't use SSL and then started to receive email offers from other books out-of-the-blue...this really pissed me off as I kept getting emails everyday over and over again from little start-up books.

Most the major books crtified IB? I don't even notice it if it's there or not. I know I get a hell of a lot of e-mails and it seems to be getting worse.

Patrick McIrish - Most books use SSL on their site BUT there are some well known books that DO NOT.

EVERYONE has a duty to themselves to check their sportsbook to see if they use SSL.

If they don't I'd recommend running as fast as you can away from a book that doesn't, unless of course you like to get all kinds of spam email from small start-up books etc.

I think SSL is important only when financial or sensitive transactions are completed, otherwise if they will always use SSL it might slow your surfing

SteelMann - I know what you mean about slowing the site down...but you'll really only notice that if you have a slow connection or the books has slow servers...but a book should only use SSL on a couple of pages on their site, like financial transaction pages AND pages that you may input you email address on like for a newletter etc.

If any page that you input your email address on does not have SSL expect to start getting allot of spam mail etc.
