For the NBA finals I bet the Spurs to win it all (-380) and to to win in 6 (+250). After I placed my bets I saw a "Tim Dunncan for MVP" line (-200). Of course I placed a wager on it. Afterwards I realized that TD for MVP is pretty much the same as Spurs for the series, so I could have saved 180 cents in potential payout. Same thing for J.Kidd for MVP. The comeback was bigger than a straight bet on the Nets to win the series. I imagine this happens all the time in NBA finals.
