Simply put baseball sucks, it is a scam created by the books in order to get your money before football. Honestly watching curling in more enjoyable.

I never had seriously played MLB-except maybe for some occasional home team info, but it seems that in the past it was the sport where the books got beat up the worst.

From what I've read, that doesn't appear to be the case this year-there's a whole lot of good bases cappers who are having a shitty year.

id rather wager on MLB and NHL games, football would be third,, if you know what your doing, baseball and hockey is where its at,,, of course you need to be a money managing, grinding type player..

Good point SSI. With the # of games in bases, you're DOOMED if you can't manage your roll. I had a monster playoff year in the NHL this year, but regular season seems to be a coin toss.

seriously, ive gambled almost daily for 17yrs now,, baseball, hockey, football - then basketball is how i rank them,,, of course this is my opinion.. i finished up about 25 units in the nba this year, which was outstanding (for me),, i find it the toughest sport of them.. i play between $100-$500 per game, with $100 being by far the choice the majority of the time,, you have to look for reasons to play games instead of reasons not to play them,, i prefer 1-5 games per day,, sometimes i do 6 or so, but i dont like to,,,,, baseball offers the ability to play the streaks,, and man playing streaks is where its at for me..... ride the hot team, hot pitcher, etc..

The key to betting baseball is taking atleast 1 day off a week.

good point railbird,, play when your hot, in the groove,, slightest threat of a cold spell, take the day off.. play poker or something that day.. then come back refreshed.. with good money management, lots of money can be made betting hockey and baseball,, no spreads to cover,, only picking the winner. well, most of the time, i dont do many runlines..

i hardly ever lay any big chalk,, today i played the white sox but that was a rare thing,, i dont do many totals, run lines or heavy chalk.. id say 75-80% of my plays are ML plays,, also frank, i rarely do the big dog,, i said rarely now........ most plays go from -1.40 to +1.50.. and in between.. look for the hot teams, hot pitchers, how one team or pitcher fares vs. the opponent.. Mojo has a lot to do with it,, couple weeks ago SD sucked big time, well they took 4 of 6 from seattle and are giving the giants fits this series,, MOJO -- my friends.. ive got the giants also today frank, so lets hope they pull it out..

I know I'm going to get bashed for this, but the whole freaking game of baseball sucks. It's fun if your playing it, but otherwise, everything about the game just sucks, period. Too slow paced for me........May as well watch the Bowling!

Threads like this are why people get shut off to many of these boards. Anyone with modicum of gambling intelligence understands that baseball offers the lowest vig (and obviously lowest hold). Between the scalps and the miniscule vig, baseball is break even at worst. Some people simply have no business gambing. Then again, thats why books stay in biz..

Doc,

You propose a valid point, one can state that yes baseball is break even at best, however such a statement does not take into account action such as this weekends, I.E. Dogs winning when they should not. However, I guess I should counter act my statement, fore that is gambling. Nonetheless, baseball proposes far too many options and variables to assess with any type of methodology. At least with in football the limited numbers of games allow a person to attempt to gauge the degree of human emotion exerted.

Dr. Hockey:

Even the absolute best pros have bad streaks.

It happens. Bet less per game until it turns around.

Very true, that is the nature of our game. Honestly, I think I would do better and have less stress and or variables, at the old BJ table. At least one will eventually get the cards, and do well if they know what they are doing. JJ and Joey thanks for the encouragement. Best of luck in the oncoming weeks.

I've been betting most major sports for 4 years now and I agree with SSI's rankings exactly, ie. that baseball is the easiest, then hockey, then football and NBA is a bitch. I am also glad to see TTinCo's comment because it's exactly the same for me. The last three years were very good in baseball for me, but this one suxx.
