Ah, the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. The tradition, the gritty football -- the Cheeseheads.
Many die-hard Green Bay Packers fans consider visiting Lambeau Field a religious experience of sorts. The David Dowd family of West Allis, Wis., really do intend to make it a religious experience when they baptize their infant daughter, Anastasia, on Sept. 20 in the new Lambeau Field Atrium.
There are about 200 public bookings scheduled at the stadium beginning in September following its $295 million renovation.
"I think it's a special thing to be able to say that she was baptized at Lambeau Field," David Dowd said. "I just hope she grows up to be a Packers fan or when she gets older, decides to marry one."
The Lutheran ceremony for 25 guests will be held in a private box overlooking the field. Dowd confirmed his daughter will not wear a Cheesehead to the ceremony.
"It is a religious ceremony and we'll keep that in mind," Dowd said. "The uniqueness is where we're having it, so probably no Cheesehead.
