The publicly funded Atlantic Cape Community College’s non-credit courses in gambling skills have become more seriously attended as a result of the 5,000 new jobs that come with the new Borgata Casino Hotel & Resort, which opens this week.

The Career Casino Institute, where the courses are taught, reports an increase in attendance of 20% since the arrival of Borgata. The Institute offers training in overseeing poker and blackjack games, slots, 60 hours of instruction in Pai Gow Poker alone, training in the fundamentals of “Let in Ride” and “Caribbean Stud,” and it also offers a mock casino on campus.

Nearly 46,000 students have passed through the course in the 25 years since it opened, responding to the needs of the casino operators in Atlantic City and environs. Training from the Career Casino Institute helps students land entry-level jobs as dealers in the casino industry. Dealers are paid between $18 and $20 an hour. The training is also good background education for Internet casino players. @@

Dante - Hey maybe some of the posters here that don't work can get training in a field they LOVE and also get a job.

Don't they also have something like this at UNLV?
