1. Dwight Gooden..in person in the mid 80's..the guy was pure athleticism and pinpoint accuracy..
2. Goose Gossage..nobody overpowered hitters like he did in his day..Lights out in his prime.
3. Nolan Ryan..saw him pitch for 3 different teams over the years..No bad outings..Always kept his team in the hunt..
4. Pedro Martinez..Its scary..small stature..Not overpowering or physically dominating..Just gets the job done and with style..
5. Jim Palmer..cant say he had a "brief"..career..His stats say it all.Pitched against great hitters and stayed on his game through all those years..

I live in Tampa so this may take a while. Last year they had some old retired General throw out the first pitch and they tried to sign him to a deal.

Living in the hot bed of sports where all the best athletes come from that is a weak list.

Mario Soto - Not a Californian with a 102-92 life time record
Jack Morris - Not a Californian but still a possible HOF'er
Lisa Fernandez - Who cares?
Bobby Welch - Not a Californian but loved to drink & smoke and at least won a Cy young
Roger Clemens - Not a Californian but I'll give you that one

If this is your list I suggest instead of spending all your time in the parking lot scalping the tickets maybe you should go in and sit and watch

Goose Gossage - Just remember him warming up and the SMACK that echoed through the ballpark each time the ball hit the catchers glove.

Railbird ripped this thread off from across the street. Salt V should be here soon to whine about how his post was "plagurized".

Doc:

Juan Maricial is a Dominican, wonder where Rail goes with that one?

Fernando, the Mexican, ditto the question.

When I go back home I'll make sure to stop at The 7/11 and get Denny to autograph a slurpee cup for you.
